A Day (or Two) in the Life of Scott Hanno

Well, here it is almost the beginning of the New Year and all the things that 2007 is going to bring along. Not too much happening around here this weekend though, I'm off tomorrow but then it's back to work come Tuesday morning. Last week was a short and quiet week but that was a good thing as my road trip wore me out and I couldn't wait for the weekend to get here. But it's here now and almost gone - but next week will be another short one and I'm looking forward to that!

The shower install guy is coming on Thursday so I'm taking both Thursday and Friday off next week and will probably mostly work from home. It's only suppose to take one day to install the thing but I'll see how quickly he actually does. I almost painted it and replaced the light and the fan and about the only other thing that is left is to do something with the floor. Then I can start on the bathroom in the guest bedroom but that's going to be down the road. I also went to the Post Office on Friday across the street from work and turned in my passport application - I didn't know that was all that I had left to do and it took like 10 minutes or less. So in about 4-6 weeks they'll be mailing me my thing ....... not that I'm going any where soon but I've been working on it for months!

I also had to wash my truck again yesterday as it had that Central NY salt glaze and I was just getting used to a clean car, but we'll see how long it lasts as it's suppose to rain again here tomorrow. At least I don't think that I have any plans tomorrow other than hopefully taking down the xmas lights outside. I made it home, 6 1/2 hours up and 6 hours back ..... all in the rain. But I'm home again and that's all that matters, Christmas was special and it's back to work in the morning. Here's my map - some of it was so foggy you couldn't see 100' in front of you. Click here.

Hello and Happy Sunday night to you ...... feels almost like springtime out there tonight! And it was so nice yesterday that I ended mowing the lawn and bagging the leaves probably for one last time and it's still growing and green and all of that good stuff. I also finally got around to cleaning out the inside of my car but still need to wash it but just washing the windows makes all of the difference in the world. I'm also winding down on this whole Christmas thing and I was amazed to find the Post Office open today, when the heck has the post office ever been open on a Sunday?

I am actually taking this coming week off for vacation but have not major plans, I really need to work on some of my projects that I've got going and that is my big plan. I have the furnace guy and the termite inspector guy coming for their annual inspections in the morning so at least that will get me out of bed early enough to actually get something done. I'll have to make my to-do list and see how far along I can get on it and would really like to finish up at least the garage walls if nothing else. Oh, and I realized that it was one year ago this weekend that I made the big road trip up from Florida with my pup Montie by my side, we leave PCB on Friday and got to Reston on Monday, tonight I would have been staying at Kings Dominion just south of here. And I closed on my house on Tuesday and the movers came on Wednesday and it was all a blur from there - I also remember blowing a fuse on my air handler on Christmas Eve and trying to find someone come look at it while I froze my butt off with no heat.

My next door neighbor brought me over a pointsetta today and a nice card which was very sweet and the card thanked me for being such a good neighbor. I've also been getting a number of cheese and candy baskets at work too, you've gotta love this time of year. And speaking of my holiday plans I think that I am headed up to Sherrill next Friday and will spend the first night with my friend Brian and his family before heading to my brothers for the rest of the weekend. Brian also offered to let me stay there the entire weekend and commute to my brothers but I don't think that I should be so lucky - but I know that my bro's house is going to be crazy with my niece's two kids and the rest of the gang living there. Who knows, I might be sleeping in the garage for all that I know. At least the weather looks like it's going to hold for a nice drive up to New York and back - at least I don't think that there is snow in the forecast but I am seeing rain on a couple of the days. Cold and in the 20's it looks like, but I was thinking that it would be awesome to rent some snowmobiles and do that one day - but I don't think that we'll get around to doing anything like that.

I guess that's it but not sure if I'll get around to reporting anything next week as it will be Christmas Eve next Sunday and I'm not sure what I'll be doing. But if I get a few minutes at some point I might try and leave a few comments, who knows. So if I don't talk with you before then have a very Merry Christmas and stay in touch! Talk with you soon.

Hey, what's up - got the holiday shopping done yet? At least I'm happy to report that I finally got the Christmas lights up on the front of the house but probably didn't do half what I would normally do but what's up is about all she wrote. And I froze my butt off out there yesterday doing it and was nothing like it was today as I think that it was in the 50's today but it's been mighty chilly the last few days and down in the teens at night. But I think that is behind us now for a while as the next 10 days are only suppose to be down into the 30's and looks like most days are going to be in the 50's again. I can handle that, let's just hope that it stays like that!

And not too much has been happening here, I finally got around to installing my medicine cabinet in the bathroom I think Tuesday evening but after I got all done I realized that it wasn't centered and was about an inch off to one side ...... so I ended up taking it back down yesterday and putting it up in the right place and think that I am done with it now. I also took the light fixture that was up in the bathroom and installed it in the bathroom downstairs and it goes great with the color of the room and it's almost like it was made for it ....... plus I got rid of the light that was in there that must have been more than 10 years old. I think that's about all that I've done around the house lately though ...... but the garage has been calling my name.

I also went to Walmart last night and kind of learned that Saturday night's are a pretty good night to go as it's not as crazy as it usually is. And I got a pair of Nike's off of EBay the other day and I'm liking them and guess that I was overdue from my normal annual schedule. I buy everything off of there lately and got a battery for my cell phone for like $9 including shipping and the Palm website wanted like $49 ...... you can find everything that you could think of and I don't even bother with the bidding junk - I just go for the buy it now stuff.

Nothing else really to report though, work has been keeping me busy but should be quieting down for the holidays and I need to figure out what days I am taking off. I don't really like it falling on a Monday though as it's right back to work Tuesday morning unless I take that day off too and doesn't really work if I'm driving back from Syracuse - I'd either have to leave early Christmas Day to get back here or take the day off and drive back on Tuesday. I also don't know if I should take Friday off and try and get an early start of just drive up on Saturday along with everyone hitting the highways that day. I guess that I'll see, I just hope the weather cooperates.

Well, sorry for the short post about nothing but that's about all that I can think to write so let me know if there is anything going on in your life and maybe I will write about that instead. I guess that my brother did end up driving down to Norfolk VA this weekend do pick up his daughter and family and they are moving back home with them - I'm sure that he's looking forward to the chaos all over again. Welcome to December and how are things going ....... getting mighty chilly around these parts and there is even a talk of a few flurries! I ended up having a pretty busy weekend around here and went and found the perfect match to my sidewalk which I guess is slate so I spent most of yesterday afternoon digging up the sod and turning them around so that they face the long way and makes for a much better entrance. I didn't quite finish up with it though as it ended up getting too dark to work and then never got out there and finished it up today ...... so it will be a project for another day. I also need to hang up my outside Christmas lights and should have also done that but didn't, I've got so many projects going that I'll be busy for months to come.

I also ended up buying my medicine cabinet that I was looking at and by taking the glass doors off I think that I should be able to hang it myself. But then last night I realized that I probably needed to install the bar light above it first and replace the funky looking one that I have now so I went and picked the light up this afternoon. I just got done installing it and it works very well and think that the cabinet will be my next project, next weekend if I don't get to it sooner.

I had a follow up dentist appointment on Friday which was a piece of cake and guess that the enamel on one of my teeth has been wearing off and she had to paint it back on but hopefully I won't end up having to do any more of them. I got my haircut yesterday but decided that I wouldn't cut it as short as I normally do so they just trimmed things around the edges and left the rest. Nothing too exciting going on with me, just more of the normal stuff I guess.

Work has been going fine and I'm keeping myself busy, still waiting for us to pick up some new hotels but nothing right around the corner that I know about. I am keeping myself fairly busy though with helping out a couple of hotels in Atlanta and my hotel in St. Paul and are now also babysitting a couple of other Crowne Plaza's although I know nothing about their systems. And on another note I have been getting so much spam lately as I had to turn off my spam assassinator on my website as it was taking up too much space but now it all gets delivered to me instead of them doing whatever they did with it. I have Norton Internet Security which I was using but it didn't catch all of the spam but I found this other free program about a week ago which is working pretty well. You have to train it by letting it do it's thing and it gets better and better and now think that it catches about 96% of my spam and I can even set it to go directly into my deleted folder and I don't even have to deal with it. I've also been experimenting with Office 2007 and like it so far - and think that I like Outlook the best out of all of the programs.

And I think that that's about it for another day, all is well with me and I'm keeping myself busy and plugging along with things. I guess that I need to get moving on the holiday stuff but haven't even started anything yet, guess that it doesn't quite seem like the season yet.
