Dang, it's just about the end of another month and the summer is almost behind us - and I guess that the kids go back to school in just one more week. But I'm looking forward to some cooler weather as I'm not liking this 90+ temps every day - I thought that was behind me when I left Florida but it actually feels about the same here as it was there. I just have no motivation to go out and do anything but hopefully in another couple of weeks it'll be nice again - just like it was for a couple of weeks last spring.
Not too much to report though as I really didn't do much all weekend - I had an eye doctor's appointment on Friday afternoon so I left work early but then they didn't quite have their act together so they had to end up rescheduling my for Saturday morning. I am in the process of getting Lasik surgery done on one of my eyes so that I won't need to wear contacts to be able to read and this was the pre-op exam to make sure that I was good to go. And I think that I am leaning towards having CK done instead of Lasik which is done with radio waves to reshape the cornea instead of slicing a flap open on my eye and then reshaping it manually ...... the process sounds much better to me and a lot less painful too. But I guess that both of them are pretty painless and depending on how much correction I need I may need to still go with Lasik instead but I guess that I'll find out soon enough. The thing that has been driving me crazy all week though is that I haven't been able to wear my contacts for the last two weeks until after I had the exam on Saturday - the first week wasn't a problem at all as I was on vacation that week but last week was a little rough trying to read without my glasses. And I think that I have to do that again before the surgery where I can't wear them for another two weeks but I think that I'm a month away from anything so at least I can see for the next couple of weeks.
And my most recent project has been to try and install a wire shelf above my washer and dryer and I'm getting close but still don't have the thing installed yet. I still need to figure out a way around the things in the wall like the plug for the dryer and such but once I get the shelf all cut then I can try and install the thing. And it'll be handy to have as I do have a cabinet above them but it's a two shelf deal and both of the shelves are too short to actually put anything in them. And of course I still need to get out and work on my garage and haven't done anything at all with that yet.
And it's dry around here and my lawn doesn't even grow any more, any watering that I do doesn't even seem to make a difference. But I did mow a few of the weeds that were growing and think that it's been like three weeks since the last time that I mowed the lawn and you really couldn't even tell that I did mow it as it really hasn't grown any ........ I'm kind of wishing for some rain as well. And one more week until the holiday and then the official days of summer will be behind us ...... I'm still not sure what I am planning on doing but could probably just spend the weekend working around the house.
I guess that's about it for this week though and I told you that nothing was going on with me and I really meant it. But if you ever want to drop me a line feel free to and I guess that I'll be talking with you on another day. Take it easy till then and have a great Labor Day weekend if I don't talk with you before then. Night!

Sorry there was no update last week but I was computerless for the last 8 days. And I made it back last night from my week's vacation in Mexico and dang if it wasn't hard to leave the place yesterday. I left DC at 9am last Saturday and was standing in Cancun by 12 noon and laying on the beach by 2pm ...... not a bad way to start out my week. I really don't know what to say about the trip other than it was great, I started to loose track of the days of the week about half way through and was kind of worried that I was going to forget when Saturday came and miss my flight home. But unfortunately that didn't happen and by about 9:30pm last night I was back home again.
I really didn't do a whole lot while I was at Barcelo's Colonial Resort in Maya Riviera which was my third time in the last year and a half and I knew exactly what I wanted to do - lay on the beach and snorkel all of the time. And that's about all that I did, I'd get up when I woke up, hit the beach by 10am and layed and swam around till about 2pm, then had lunch and then found some shade and read my book. It was also a pretty healthy vacation at that as I swam for hours and even went to the gym every day - and also had a massage on Monday and then another one on Friday cuz the first one felt so great! I also finished a book that I took and just finished it up on the flight home yesterday - the ending wasn't as exactly as I would have thought and I learned way too much about prime numbers but I guess that was ok - I can't say that I have actually read a book from start to finish in years.
I only took a couple of pics so I'll just post them here, I took probably 20 of them in the last 30 minutes that I was there - here is my favorite place in the world these days - the dark parts were where the reefs were and they were so cool to check out. I saw turtles and sting rays and tons of fishies too - here's the spot that I usually hung out at -

And here is another one of the kiddy pool that was right outside of my room - I had a first floor room with a patio and it was great -

And lastly here is one looking at my room and it's the one that's to the right of the one with the white on it -

And what a great shower I had, it had a bathtub and a shower next to each other and it was one of those rain shower heads that were huge and must have flowed like 12 gallons of hot water a minute ....... it spoiled me now using my tiny little shower and it sucked showering this morning. I really need to think about upgrading my bathrooms though ....... hmm.
And this week it's back to work in the morning and I'm sure that 5am is going to come bright and early ..... I have a meeting in DC at the Holiday Inn on Tuesday but other than that it should be a normal week. So, I guess that I should get going now as I've still got things I've got to do. All's well with me and hope that it's the same with you - let me know what's up in your world. See ya manyana!

Welcome back again and here it is the end of another weekend ....... another hot one at that but I guess not as hot as it was last week. I ended up heading to Atlanta last Tuesday and spent the rest of the week at the Emory Conference Center which was a really nice hotel that you'd never know was just 15 minutes from downtown ...... it more had the feel of a lodge set in the mountains or something. It was pretty warm down there as well but I guess that it was like 105' each day up here while I was gone but that was pretty much gone by the time that I got back. But it was still 95' or close to it both yesterday and today and it looks like it hasn't rained in weeks judging by the color of my lawn. I ended up going out and mowing it last evening but it didn't really need it but I guess that I can water at least the front yard and see if I can green it up a little bit.
I ended up buying a new ivory comforter cover for my duvet cover and also some new white sheets and they were waiting for me when I got home on Friday evening and I ended up washing them that night and threw them on my bed. The sheets are like 600 count and the cover is like 400 and they are just the most comfortable thing that I think that I've ever had on my bed. I guess that is one of the things that I can now have now that I don't have a little piglet of a dog running around. I ended up buying them on Overstock.com and you can get some pretty good deals on stuff there. I also went and did some shopping this weekend forgetting that it was the Tax Free shopping weekend and Walmart was a mess and so was the mall with all of the kids getting ready to head back to school in just a couple of more weeks ...... I didn't buy much but saved a few bucks not having to pay any sales tax!
I also had a message from the vet as I expected that Montie's ashes were ready to be picked up so I went and got them yesterday and it's a beautiful little box ...... actually the thing is a lot heavier than it looks but I guess that it would have to be to fit him all in there. I think that it does help to know that at least a part of him is home with me again, it really doesn't make it any easier but I guess having him here in any shape or form is better than nothing at all. Here is a picture of his box that is sitting on my mantle above the fireplace -
You can't really tell but the plate on the front has his name on it and it was kind of funny that I was trying to open it up to make sure that he was in there but I guess that it is all sealed up. And the vet also gave me a ornament that they made from his paw print and they said that I could hang it on my Christmas tree .......kind of strange but nice of them to do just the same.
I think that I am in town all this week but have a few meetings and need to get caught up after being gone last week so it should be a pretty busy week. I have a meeting to present to on Tuesday and then I think that I will have our new revenue manager from the Four Points come up and spend some time with me one of these days - but I've realized after last week that I would get a heck of a lot more accomplished if my trainee was in my world and not theirs and then I don't have to put up with all of the interruptions. We are also hiring two more Area Directors for a few of our other hotels so it's definitely beginning to be quite the department. Other than that though I guess that all on the work front is going pretty well.
And I think that I am taking vacation next week starting on Saturday and I am looking forward to it - so I might not be around to post anything next weekend. But we shall see how things go and where I go (or don't go) and I can't wait to just sit around and do nothing for the entire week. So I hope that all is well in your world and that you are staying cool ...... Summer will be gone before we know it so I guess that we should enjoy it while we can. Talk with you soon.
