Happy Memorial Day Evening to you and the family! And dang if it isn't hot around these parts and think that it was just about 90' today and should be hotter tomorrow and yesterday wasn't much better than that either. I ended up driving up to the University of Delaware for Megan's graduation and it was warm there too - as we stood outside waiting for the ceremony to begin but at least we found a tree so it could have been worse. Here is a picture of Megan and some of her friends from NY that she went to high school with - it sure was nice of them to make the trip and share in her big day!

I just hope that she doesn't mind be posting the picture and haven't asked her - I have a couple of others when she was up on stage getting her diploma but you can't even really tell who the heck it is so at least in this one you can tell who she is. But I think that she has issues with keeping her eyes open in front of a camera and I think that her eyes are closed in this one as well. And then after the ceremony we all went out to dinner and had a good time, good friends and it was good seeing the family again. The drive up and back was just about exactly two hours from door to door - and I got home around 11pm last night so it was a mighty long day. Montie didn't seem to enjoy it too much but he's no worse for the wear today.

I also ended up taking Friday off as a vacation day and ended up doing most of what I usually do on my Saturday's which included mowing the lawn and washing the car - I even detailed it and has it all shining like brand new (not that it did all that much good as it is now covered with bugs from head to toe). And I'm off again tomorrow with the rest of the world and might end up staining my deck if I can find the strength so we'll see how the day goes. Today I ended up cleaning and laundrying and shopping for food - and I also replaced about six outlets and light switches as it drives me crazy that someone painted them when they painted the walls - what the heck were they thinking! I could do the whole house as I like 'em nice and white and new looking so I'll do a few at a time and then I'll have them all done (some day). My lawn is also looking like it could use some rain and there is no rain in sight - I've been slowly watering the sod that I planted last week but it's also looking pretty brown. I just hope that I don't need to install a sprinkler system but I don't think that is going to happen any time soon.

Well, I hope that you had a great holiday weekend and that you are ready for the summer to begin and I'll be talking with you on another day. Time for me to catch a movie as tonight is my Saturday night - I've got the Greatest Game Ever Played and Final Destination II ...... not sure which one I am going to choose yet! Enjoy the Memorial Day - and remember those that have fallen for us.

Happy Sunday night and the weekend is just about done once again. It turned out to be another very nice day yesterday and was probably close to 80', I got the lawn mowed and then decided to at least fix up my front walkway. So I ended up digging up the large stone block things and made them not so sunk into the ground so they stand out more and look better than they did - but I may still end up replacing them with something else some day but at least it was an improvement. I also got some sod at Lowes and edged it against the walk way and the planter thing and also filled in some big holes where I moved the planter bricks back as it would have taken forever if I was to wait for it to grown in naturally. So it seems that no matter where I go that sod will be a part of my life but at least it's looking much better today. And as I was out watering my new sod this evening I noticed that half of the front porch front wasn't even painted when they painted the porch - plus the steps are starting to chip so I can add a fresh paint job to my to do list.

I also found out what is causing Montie's hack as I took him to the vet last Saturday and then again back this weekend for another check up. But they pretty much knew what it was right off the bat - but some big x-rays of his lungs and heart confirmed that he has congestive heart failure and his little old heart is failing him - and that is causing his lungs to fill up with fluid and that is why he is having such a hard time breathing. I at first was thinking that I didn't want him to suffer any and I still don't - plus I don't want them to do anything drastic as there really isn't anything that they can do to make him "better" but brought him home although I was pretty bummed out about it. But he is still happy 90% of the time and he's eating well so I'm just going to let him live his life until he's not comfortable any more and then we'll have to figure out what to do next. I know the day is coming and I guess that I am ready for it - but he's not there yet so we'll take it one day at a time. He's on some strong antibiotics and he's not liking them very much - sticking my fingers down his mouth isn't very much fun for me either.

I also have a dentist appointment in the morning which I'm not looking forward to - I have a filling that got chipped so I have to have that replaced and means the drilling and the novacaine - not one of my more fun tasks but guess that there isn't too much I can do about it - plus all of my fillings are probably 30+ years old so it seems like they are all getting to a point where it's time for all of them to be replaced.

Other than that there isn't too much going on with me, I went down to DC one day last week and had a meeting with an owner at our office on another day. But I'm kind of thinking that this upcoming week might actually be a quiet one as I don't think that I am going anywhere but guess that I will see. The more that I think about it I might try and take Friday off and make it a four day weekend but I'll have to see what my boss has to say about the matter and take it from there. And I guess that is it for another day - and I also hope that all is well on your end of the world too. Talk with you soon.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you Mom's out there - how was your special day? Not too much happening on this end but it did turn out to be a pretty decent weekend - the forecast looked like it was going to be raining all weekend but it really didn't get here until today around 4pm. Yesterday was a very nice day and was cool and in the low 70's but it was great weather for mowing the lawn which I got out of the way first thing in the morning. I also ended up hooking up my landscaping lights and they are working just fine and it actually turned out to be a lot easier than I figured it would be but I still ended up plugging them in on my back deck so someday I will have to work on running an outlet for them at some point but it's good enough for now.

I ended up buying a GPS directions/mapping thing and I think that the thing is just the coolest - I got tired of getting lost in DC and saw one in the cab that brought me home from the airport last weekend and got one similar to the one that he had. It's kind of portable and pops out of the holder in the car that I can hook to my dashboard in my car and then there is a speaker on the power outlet thing and it works very well. But it did take me a little while getting used to listening to the directions - and you just type in the address of where you want to go and it tells you where to turn and how far to go. I got it on Thursday and used it on Friday to get to the Four Points in DC on Friday and it worked like a charm - the only thing is that it was taking me via Route 66 which at times is a HOV lane and you can't use that if there is only one person in the car. But you can go another way and it readjusts and gives you new directions but I think that the lady that's talking to me gets ticked off at me when I go off course. It's cool though - and I'm really surprised that you don't even have to pay to use the service ....... it's awfully nice of our government to share their satellites like that!

Not too much went on last week that I can think of, it was mostly a catch up week but I did go down to the Holiday Inn On The Hill on Wednesday and then the Four Points on Friday and then again I'm going to the L'Enfant Plaza hotel tomorrow to spend a few hours there. I am getting used to driving around down there though so that's a good thing but the traffic sure ain't no fun - I think that it took me two hours to get home on Wednesday due to a stupid accident that had one lane shut down on the George Washington Parkway and had things backed up for miles.

My niece called me last night to let me know that she is graduating college over the Memorial Day weekend and wanted to see if I could make it and I might but we'll have to wait and see. I also need to see how far away it is from me as she goes to the University of Delaware which might only be a couple hours drive from here - and it's been quite a while since I've seen the family so I might be able to make the trip. Other than that I guess that she is looking at what she wants to do after she finished up with classes and guess that she wants to get into Event Planning which is kind of in the same industry as me - so maybe I can help her out with that too if she needs it.

I guess that is about all that is going on in these parts, it's back to work again in the morning and it seems like the weeks just fly right by - but 5am comes way too early and I'm usually beat and ready for the weekend by the time that it gets here! So I guess that is about it for another day - have a great week yourself and I will be talking with you soon. See ya!

Happy something of May, we are all ready through the first week and it will be over before we even know it! And it's been a couple of crazy weeks as two weeks ago I was in Atlanta Wednesday through Friday, then went back to the same city but different hotel Monday through Wednesday, went and spent the day at the Four Points in DC on Thursday and then took Friday off as a vacation day. Then I left for Mexico first thing on Saturday morning and didn't get back from there until last night. Today I pretty much spent the day doing laundry and cleaning the house and stuff and guess that I am pretty much ready to head back to the office in the morning. At least I don't think that I have any other trips coming up in the very near future but do know that I've got a meeting in DC again on Friday - but other than that it's kind of up in the air.

And the vacation was excellent and the weather was beautiful every day but I pretty much got enough sun to last me after about Tuesday so the rest of the week I hung out in the shade. I did have a routine going early in the week and would go to the beach around 9am and hang out in the sun and go snorkeling a couple of times, then I'd do lunch and then hang out at the pool for the rest of the afternoon. Oh, and this year we even stayed at the newer hotel that opened up in December 2005 so it's all practically brand new and is even nicer (and bigger) than the one that we stayed at last year. Our meeting started on Wednesday but we still had a lot of free time and even went to Tulum (the ruins) again Thursday afternoon ...... but dang if that wasn't hot that afternoon! And they also even gave us a tour of the back of the house which I didn't see before - we saw where 1,000 of the associates lived and the laundry and even the kitchen facilities - it's pretty cool to see that side of it too. I'd definitely go back - and bet that my brother would have had a great time if he went again as well.

Other than that I think that Montie still remembers me, I ended up having to leave him with a neighbor (the one's on the other side of me) on Saturday and Sunday and then a girl from work watched him at her house until Saturday morning and he was sitting here waiting for me when I got home last night. I also had the kid next door mow my lawn so it was all looking just great when I got home and didn't have to bother with it this week. Other than that I'm a little bummed that my vacation is done and it's back to the grind but I guess that it happens to even the best of us. Oh, and I found out last week when I got home that they did approve my landscaping lights - they had their meeting on Tuesday and I got a letter from them on Wednesday - so at least they are quick about letting you know of their decisions! Now I just have to get out there and set them up at some point.

I guess that's about it - I'm home again and alive and kicking, and I also hope that all goes well on your end of the world as well. Talk with you soon - and have a great week!

I'm back from Cancun Mexico (just barely) but wanted to let you know that I made it and had the most excellent seven days of R&R ..... sorry I missed blogging last week but I've been without cell and internet for a week! I didn't even take any pictures but they'd be the same as last year but it was even better than that - more tomorrow night I hope!

Have a great weekend and I'll talk with you soon - all is well with me today!
