Go figure, I'm once again an Uncle as Jessie had her baby Saturday, 09/24 and she had a baby girl ...... named something like Alica Rein (although I'm guessing on the spelling). I had just remembered that my bro said that he was going out to Seattle the last week of September and just realized that that was probably this week and called him - and he and Teri have been out there since last Wednesday.

And here's a pic of my newest grandniece - Alisia Raine ..... I can only wish that I had that much hair :)

CONGRATULATIONS Jessica & Nick! And here's to many, many more (or are you done yet?).

They just put out a plug-in to use Word as an option for writing this so I’m game and will give it a shot – but if the thing doesn’t work after I get this all typed up I might be a little ticked off. And here she be another Sunday night and the weekend is pretty done and guess that it wasn’t really all that out of the ordinary around here the last couple of days. I am trying to finish up some of my loose ends around the house and ended up putting a few chunks of sod down on a couple of the remaining bare spots in the backyard so hopefully that will finally grow. I also made myself go out and finish up putting on a second coat of that stain stuff on my patio to finish it off after I did the first coat on my vacation back in April I think …….still not sure that I’m liking the color but at least it looks finished. And I did the lawn thing too and got my weed whacker almost put back together and working again but am still having trouble with the string advancement thing and should have never messed with it in the first place ……dang Weed Thrasher!

And I finally got the house appraised on Thursday but it’ll take a few days until I get my report back on what is the fair market price for it but I’m hoping for Monday or Tuesday. I’ve also been reading up on how to go about selling the house privately without a realtor and I’m not sure that I can handle all the paper work and contracts and such so I’m starting to ask around and called a couple of realtors yesterday. Once place wants like 3% of the sale while another one wanted $1000 both of which sound like a lot of money for me just to type up some paperwork. But I guess that it’s still better than both me and the buyer both paying 6% each but we are both still looking around. I think that I am still going to move forward selling it Linda and Jimmy but I guess that all depends on what the price ends up being and if it is in their ballpark or not so I guess that we’ll see. It’s kind of funny but Jimmy is the one that put in my sprinkler system like four years ago, bet that he never would have guess that he was doing it for himself ……and getting paid for it!

And my shoulder has been in some heck of some pain ever since Thursday I think and don’t know what I did to it but it was even worst yesterday and today. I even took a few of those little blue pills (not advil, ibuprofen?) and they usually do the trick but they didn’t seem to help me much this time around. I think that Montie was laughing at me though every time I was in pain telling me that it was my turn and he lived through it last weekend. I guess that neither of us are getting any younger though so I guess you’ve got to expect these things – but he’s back to normal now and jumping in and out of the car (and bed) again.

Not much else new around here though, at least Rita has come and gone and we didn’t see hide nor hair of her but it surely made it an interesting week in the lodging industry in San Antonio last week. I had like three different groups cancel and then pick the rooms back up with evacuees and dang it we still didn’t end up coming close to selling out with all of the no shows that we ended up with. I hope that business returns to normal next week and guess that all of Houston is on their way back home, most of the checked out yesterday from what I could tell. I guess that’s about it though other than it’s still hotter than all get out and is still in the 90’s every day and no sign of rain, it sprinkled a couple of time during Rita but that was about all that we got – but there was some pretty cool lightning Thursday night I think it was. And poor New Orleans, that’s about all I can say there. Ok, I’m going to end this now so have a great beginning to another new week and I will talk with you soon one of these days. Night.

Sunday night again and even though we are half way through September you'd think it was still the middle of July ....... it was a dang awfully hot weekend around these parts! I think that it was in the middle 90's but it's been so humid again that it's almost unbearable to even go outside, even this evening it was still 90' out at 7pm after the sun had gone down. And I checked the 10 day forecast and it looks like the worst isn't even here yet as I think tomorrow it was suppose to be 96' :( Oh well, at least someday I will probably be living where it's considerably cooler than here.

And I thought that I broke Montie as we were messing around on Thursday and I was kind of sitting on him talking to him over his head and all of a sudden he jumped up and messed up his back left leg ..... and then was in major pain and couldn't even get up to limp around. I ended up taking him to the vet that evening after work but they were all backed up and he was starting to limp around ok so I thought that I'd give it another day and came home before we saw anyone. Then Friday came and he was still in pain, he'd cry out even if I picked him up so it wasn't easy getting him around the house but he seemed to be a little better by the end of the day so we didn't go back again. But then yesterday morning it was the same thing and I was starting to get worried that he either pulled something or broke something so I got up early and took him to see the doctor - and after a 45 minute wait and a three minute doctor visit the doctor thinks that he's just inflamed and probably has arthritis as well but there doesn't seem to be any permanent damage that he could tell. So he got a big ole shot of cortisone in the back and a week's worth of $3.00 pills and $75 later he seems to be doing much better - and he's pretty much back to normal today. I was just relieved to know that he wasn't broken and he's been on bed rest ever since ..... although that's not been an easy task either.

And the big announcement that I was talking about last weekend is that I accepted a promotion as the Corp Director of Revenue Management with my same company and will be moving to McLean Virginia some time in the next month or so. So that means selling the house and relocating and all that good stuff - and probably just in time to make sure that I see the first snowfall. I am really excited about getting started on the job but not too much about the move - but actually it might be a good thing to be back in the real world again ..... having to commute and actually going to an office each day will be a big change for me! And in looking at the cost of houses there I'm not even sure I'll be able to afford a house and might end up in an apartment - and then I've got to figure out what to do with all of the crap that I've collected over the years. Change, it's a good thing right :?)

Not too much else new around here, last week was a pretty normal week although my announcement came out on Monday so it was kind of strange dealing with that but all in all it was a pretty good week. I shipped my Weed Thrasher back and am still trying to get my weed whacker back to the way that it was but I'm having a couple of challenges there but I need to figure it out sometime soon as my lawn needs some detailing bad. And it speaking of the lawn it hasn't rained here all this month and is going on like three weeks now with not even a drop - at least I've got my sprinklers but even with running them every day it's still mighty dry out there.

Not much else to report though, I ended up renting a couple of good movies this weekend as it's been a while since I've found anything of interest on DVDOvernight.com and ended up watching Napoleon Dynamite on Friday night which was a trip of a movie and the National Treasure last night which was also a very good flick too. And my brother said that he (and Teri) were heading out to Seattle WA at the end of the month for another birth for my niece Jessie and guess that makes it her second child and guess that Gavin must be going on like four all ready. I pretty much had the normal Sunday around here today and got the house clean and the laundry done, groceries are shopped and that's about all she wrote. I hope that you have a great week ahead and that it's cooler where you live than it is here but it shouldn't be too much longer before it's nice out again ...... hmmm, just in time for me to pack up my bags I guess! Talk with you soon, stay cool too!

Another Sunday night is upon as and all is well with me, nothing new and exciting to report really. It has really been some decent weather around here ever since Labor Day and while it is still close to 90' every day the humidity has been much lower and it almost feels good outside. Hmmm, what's been going on with me ..... I did get out and spent most of my Labor Day pressure washing the house and got three sides done and it was way overdue but looks almost like new now, I still love that vinyl siding stuff. And then the new week began on Tuesday and it was really hectic week having only four days to complete everything that I usually have five days to do it in and on top of that all of the hotels preliminary budgets were due on Friday so everyone was scrambling to get that done too. But I guess that we managed and it's almost time to start another new week.

Oh, and I think that it was Tuesday afternoon and I was working in my office (like I always am!) and heard this big thump on the sliding glass door out back and went to see what it was and there was this poor bird laying on the patio with drops of blood dripping out of his little beak and he'd passed away, I felt really bad after that and sooner or later had to go out and pick him up which didn't make me feel much better. I had to think that I bet that when he woke up that morning that he didn't know that his time was about to come to an end, and why did it have to be him and why on that day ....... things that really don't have any answers to and that got me thinking about all of the other things that we really have no control over - which is just about everything!

I've also got some big news to report at some point on me but I can't quite do it just yet as it isn't quite public knowledge yet so I shouldn't say anything but I would imagine that by next week it will all be under way. If you are really interested you can shoot me an e-mail and I'll tell you that way but otherwise you'll just have to sit tight and wait for the news to come out some day. it's really not that big of news any way, but it'll probably mean that I will have to end up changing the picture on my home page one day.

Other than that my flipping Weed Thrasher finally arrived and it took me like two days to get it on my weed whacker only to find out that the little plastic things break off faster than I can even start the thing ..... it's a piece of crap so be sure not to make the same mistake that I made. I also think that I even messed up my old trimmer trying to get it off and probably won't be able to get it back together the way that it used to be so I'll then have to probably spend more money replacing that as well ...... my advise would be to stay away from anything that states "as seen on tv"!

Not too much else to report, my water was out for about six hours today as I guess they had a leak up the street so I'm now just getting around to running the dishwasher, plus I had to blow off mopping the floors but at least I got my laundry done before it went out. That's another one of those things that you take for granted when it's working but really messes you up when it's not - but at least it's not quite as bad as loosing power, now that really sucks when that happens! And I guess that's it for another day so I will end this now and say good night for another week. And here's hoping that all is well with you these days and I will talk with you again someday soon. LATER Day Dude!

And I just realized that today is September 11th 2005 ...... God Bless those that lost their lives four years ago today :|

Happy Labor Day Eve everyone ...... where did the summer go any ways? And I can't help but feel that we shouldn't really be celebrating all that much when there are so many people suffering just a state or two over from me and have been thinking about that all week when, my life is pretty much normal but there are so many lives that have been changed ...... for a long time to come. I also have to think that it could have easily been me that was in the thick of it, just a few days before they were saying that it could have even been us - and I probably wouldn't have evacuated and it would just be me and Montie sitting up on the roof still. At least I heard from one of my friends who lives in Slydell, LA and he evacuated but was able to make it back home on Friday to just fine a few shingles blown off and no power but other than that his house was still in tact. Makes you think though that it could have easily have happened here but at least we aren't below sea level so I think that it would have at least drained faster. I also decided that I can gauge the strength of our storms by the number of lawn bags that I end up filling up with pine needles that I end up having to rake - and this one was only a two bagger for us and no where near the 5-bagger that the last one was.

And I am also happy to report that I finally got my spoiler put on my truck and it looks great, I had to take my truck to the body shop Tuesday morning and didn't get it back until 5pm on Friday and I was starting to loose any hope that anyone was going to be able to install it. I guess that they ended up having to fix all of the holes that I drilled into it before they started to install it and guess that probably added a little to the cost of the project, oh well at least I won't do that the next time around. Here is a picture of it - and it's hard to believe that that little thing caused me so much grief!

It turned out pretty good though and you can't even tell that I had it all screwed up and the paint job matches perfectly too. I also have a few more pictures of it posted on my bottom of my Escape pics page - if you wanna check them out you can click here.

Not too much going on around these parts, I did the lawn thing yesterday and then started to wash the house but only got one side done (well 3 quarters of the front actually) and need to do a lot more tomorrow so that will be the project of the day. I had wanted to do some more today but that never happened and I ended up doing the usual Sunday stuff and that was about it. It's still hot as all heck but guess that it won't be too much longer and it'll be cooling off and October is usually a really good month around here. And speaking of around here there sure are a heck of a lot of people around, not sure if they are evacuees or vacations or both but the town is booming pretty well this weekend.

Oh, and I'm still waiting for my "weed thrasher" thing to show up and I now have the USPS tracking number and it hasn't been seen since like 08/19 the last time it was scanned, I called post office and they think that it might have been in the big storm and if so than it's gone never to be seen again. But they told me to give it another week and see if it shows up by then but I'm loosing hope that I'm going to and I'm not too sure what the next step is - maybe they will send me another one but that's probably pretty unlikely as well. I also got to thinking about all of the stuff that will never be seen again, all probably just floating out to sea ..... well, if the water ever floats that way. I also ordered an internal fan for my Dell XPS as I swear the thing runs way to hot but Dell says that there is nothing wrong with it so I'm just going to do that on my own and see if it helps to cool it off any better.

And I guess that's about it for another day, I'm off tomorrow but hope to not sleep the day away and get up somewhat early and get motivated to get outside. I do have a little work that I need to get done too, othewise I'll be too far in the weeds come Tuesday morning that it's just easier to do some of it tomorrow. And I hope that all is well in your neck of the woods as well, take it easy and I'll talk with you soon.
