Here it is another Sunday night and I guess that there is another hurricane a-brewing, but from the looks of things we are going to miss most of the brunt of things as it's pretty much too far west to affect us here. We'll probably get some major rain out of the thing and maybe some winds but probably not much more than that. I was in Reston VA all last week, I left here on Monday and came back on Friday and dang if it wasn't a nice weather week up there ...... I could almost move there permanently :)

But Delta kind of did it to me again, I was scheduled to fly out of PC at like 1:30pm on Monday and they decided to cancel that flight and called me about 10:30am to tell me so. So my options were to take the 7pm flight out of here and get into Dulles at like 12:30am - or to drive to Tallahassee and take a flight out of there and end up keeping my connecting flight ..... so I ended up rushing to get out of here within like 30 minutes for the two hour drive. Plus I then had to fly back into TLH in order to get my car so I ended up having to drive back on Friday. It could have been worse though and left an hour later and got there an hour earlier and still not sure how that happened but oh well. And at least they were nice enough to give me the option of what to do. I also took a few pictures while I was up there but didn't have my camera when we ended up taking a boat cruise for a luncheon on Tuesday - that was pretty cool as we went right by all of the sites and really wished that I would have thought to brought a camera. Here is one of the front of the hotel though - I took a couple right before I left on Friday morning -

And speaking of rain here is comes now and just started to downpour so we'll have to see how long it lasts. It sure was a hot and nasty weekend around here and I ended up mowing the lawn yesterday and sweated my butt off, and I'm still waiting for me weed thrasher to show up but think that it's one of those "6-8 weeks" kind of places which really kind of sucks since they had no problem charging me for it all ready. I did end up getting my spoiler for the truck on Friday and they were great about holding off on shipping it so that it wouldn't be here until I got back, now I just have to have it painted and then see if someone will install it for me, it's turned out to be quite the pain in the butt for sure but at least this one seems to fit a lot better than the other one.

I guess that that's about it, I'm going to be in the weeds once again this week even though I ended up working some both yesterday and today but my in-box is still overflowing and I'm in the middle of budgets - oh what a joyful time of year this is! Have a great week and I'll talk with you again sometime soon. See ya!

Dang, it sure seems like these Sunday nights come around soon enough, seems like it takes forever to get to Friday and then the weekend is over before you know it. Not too eventful of a weekend around here at that, I got up early (well, early for me!) and took the boy to pick up dry cleaning and then went and had a #2 Breakfast at McDee's while we were out. Then I came home and worked on budgets for a little while and before I knew it the clouds moved in and it was getting dark out - so I figured I'd better get the lawn mowed before it was pouring out. But it never really did rain but was thunder & lightning pretty bad - and I was just waiting for it to strike me while I was pushing that piece of metal around the yard. But I'm happy to say that I'm still here and it never did even rain other than a few sprinkles but sure did look like it was going to move in. I also got my hair cut at the end of the day and that was about all that yesterday wrote.

My brother in law called me this afternoon and I guess they have been at a family reunion in Indiana this weekend and they found out coming back home that US Air had cancelled their flight from Reagan to Albany and that they were going to be stuck there for the night - they were actually taking it better than I would have been as I would have really been ticked at the airlines for stranding me half way home. But they were looking for rooms and I think that I got them an employee rate at a Courtyard at the airport in DC, well as long as my faxed form sufficed they should honor the rate hopefully. But I guess that I'll find out soon enough if they ran into any more troubles - but I think that they've had enough for one day.

I think that I might have mentioned that I sent back the first spoiler that I bought for my truck that no one could get to fit and they credited it back to me today so that's cool. And I ended up ordering another one that is the Ford OEM version so this one better fit but it only comes primed so I'll have to have it painted and then installed - but at least I'm getting to be pretty good friends with my local body shop and they said that they'd paint it and install it too. So I hope to have that delivered by the end of the week and we can try it again, some day come heck or high water I'll have it installed. Other than that the truck is doing great, it's still filthy but it's too hot out to wash and I never seem to have any spare time for that either.

When cleaning the house today I ended up cleaning my dog too, I don't think that he even saw it coming but when I was cleaning the bathroom I ended up throwing him in the tub and rub-a-dub-dubbed him up, he actually did really good and even sat down while I was foaming him up. It's probably been more than a month since his last bath and he was starting to stink, not sure if it was his breath or what but he's smelling mucho nicer now, and he's even soft as a little teddy bear too! Another couple of weeks and it'll be hair cut time again for him and guess that'll be the next time he sees any bubbles too.

Not much else going on with me, I ended up getting my switch thing for my distinctive call ring thing and it works great with my fax line now but I ended up having to buy a new answering machine for the home phone and got that yesterday too. But it was about time as I bought my last one in Andover MA in 1996 and still used that little tape player thing - I don't even think you can still get them with a tape these days. I'm still waiting for my weed whacker thing though and had hoped that it would have shown up yesterday but didn't - but maybe by next weekend I'll be "thrashing them weeds" like there was no tomorrow.

That's about it - it's still HOT every day and like 95' and 75' and has been raining more it seems, at least the lawn is looking great. And it's back to work tomorrow and it's kind of crunch time now getting budgets done and rates for next year and all that good stuff, I've done two complete budgets and started another and then have one more to do from start to finish so maybe in another week they'll all be put to bed (yeah, right!). Have a great week and until another day stay cool and be good!

This will probably be a pretty quick update this week as I've had one heck of a busy (and hot) day and I just ended up cleaning out my filing cabinet and then filing another months worth of stuff ...... so that put me behind my normal schedule and I apologize for that - but there isn't all that much going on here any ways.

I'm still dealing with my spoiler for my truck, I took it in after I messed it up to a body shop and they had it for two days before they decided that they couldn't do anything with it, then they recommended another place who I met on Thursday and then made an appointment for yesterday morning - but after getting up at the crack of dawn and showing up at the appointed time the owner of the shop decided to take the day off and they wouldn't do anything with it until he looked at it - so that was a complete waste of my time and I ended just leaving getting me no where. But I must say that if you are thinking about using Auto Trim Design in Panama City, FL for your auto detailing I'd think twice as they don't seem to be running an organized operation if you know what I mean. I ended up shipping my first spoiler back to where I got it and will try getting a Ford OEM part and hopefully that will fit better, it's going to take some time but sooner or later I'm going to get it installed ..... what do they say about those who wait?

And it's hot (but what's new), I went out and started my mower yesterday and right on the last pull when it started the rope for the starter broke and came out in my hand but it was just a good thing that it started on that exact pull. I was able to mow the lawn but couldn't shut it off until the whole thing was done as I would have no way of restarting it but then I stopped by Home Depot while I was in town yesterday and got a new rope and finally figured out how to install that today. At least now I'm good to go next week right off the bat.

I also ended up changing my second phone line over to a distinctive ring thing which saves me about $15 a month but I had to order a switch box that should be here on Monday or so as my answering machine and fax machine answer both lines right now so that's not working too well but I'm thinking with the box I should be all set to go. I also had to order a new battery for my Palm Pilot as it's not holding a charge worth a darn and picked one up on Ebay for $6.00 where they were selling them everywhere else for like $30. And finally I bought a "weed thrasher" thing for my weed eater as I am tired of having to re-thread the line three times each time I use the thing - and this thing looks a lot more reliable but I'll have to see how it actually works out. The guy in the commercial even looks like me pounding the thing trying to get more string to come out!

Oh, and I even tuned up my bike the other day and threw that in my truck and drove to the body shop and road that back and I'm liking it, now I can't wait for it to cool down some so that I can take it for a cruise some time. We don't have the best roads for bike riding but I think that I should be able to find a few big sub-divisions to ride around in to keep me happy. And speaking of happy the Monto is doing well and is sleeping over there in the corner, he's been doing just fine but doesn't like the heat either - plus he still hasn't figure out how to jump in and out of the new truck yet ...... which is weird as it's at least a foot shorter than my Sports Trac. Oh well. some day I think that he'll get the hang of it.

And I guess that's it, work is cranking with a new reservation system that I'm having to learn and budgets are under full swing right now and everyone wants there's done yesterday ..... what is a guy to do. Have a great week and drop me a line if you feel like it, otherwise I will talk with you again some day real soon. Night!

Sunday, August 07, 2005

Sunday night here and dang if today didn't wear the heck out of me! It monsoon rained all day yesterday with thunder and lightning and didn't clear up till the very end which threw a wrench in my lawn mowing activities. Plus both yesterday and today I had to set my alarm and wake up early, yesterday the Stanley Steamer guys showed up at 8am for my annual carpet cleaning and I had to get up before that to move everything out of the way plus vacuum and get ready but that only took about an hour or so before they were done. But then the house was all wet and I couldn't walk on most of it and it was pouring rain out so I went back to bed but then could never really get back to sleep. Then this morning I set the alarm for 7am again and got up and went out and mowed all of the lawn and then ended up putting the house back together and then did everything else that I normally would do on a Sunday ....... it's been one long day! I also think that it rained just about every day last week which is kind of strange, not just an afternoon shower but rain all day - it's been cooler being cloudy but it gets kind of depressing. At least today it was back to sunshine - but think that it was at least 95' out there as well.

Plus I'm a little bummed about my truck as me and another guy tried to put my spoiler on the truck on Thursday night. The directions looked easy enough and was like 10 steps and 5 screws - now how hard could that be! So we drilled the holes in the tailgate but then never could get it on as you have to push down on the middle while screwing in both sides, it turned out to be one heck of a job and after trying for about three hours we finally gave up. Now I am just hoping and praying that the body shop that I stopped at on Friday can do it for me and have to take it in tomorrow morning and if they can get it on that I'm in good shape - but if they can't than I've got a whole new problem on my hands trying to figure out what the heck to do with the holes in my truck. I guess that all I can do is hope for the best - and definitely should have taken it to them and not even attempted to do it myself. Pray for me, me and my spoiler too!

I got the wind deflector things for all of my four windows the other day too and they look great and went on with no trouble but then again there wasn't any drilling involved in process so that wasn't quite the same deal. I'm still liking the thing but dang if it doesn't show the dirt and if I hit one mud puddle the thing is trashed again. I do keep finding new little features that I didn't know that it had which is cool, but I'd probably have known about most of them if I had actually read the manual.

And we are taking over another hotel in Reston VA at the end of the month and think that I'll be making another trip to go up and see how things are going but I guess the good news is that I'll be home another few weeks before I have to go any where. And that is a good thing, in between setting up 2006 rates and corporate accounts we've got budgets right around the corner - plus I have this computer training thing that I have to do for a new system that we are getting and haven't even started that! At least it makes the weeks fly right by, and will be Christmas again before we know it.

And that's that, nothing too exciting going on on this end and I hope that everything is going well for you too. Talk with you again on another day, take care and I will talk with you sometime soon.
