Well, I guess that the first holiday weekend is just about complete - how were things in your neighborhood? And I worked Monday through Wednesday but it was a pretty quiet week, I was fairly caught up after having the week before off so it was pretty regular - other than the fact that a bunch of people took last week off so it was nice and quiet. I had planned to work on Friday even though it was "officially" a work holiday as I thought that my hotels would be working as it wasn't a holiday for them. But after working for about four hours I realized that no one else in the world was working and called it quits about 11:30am - and then went shopping at Home Depot.
I had this vision as I was working on rechaulking my kitchen counter and had moved the huge countertop microwave that I've had for the last five years (or more) and realized how much counter space I had without it. I then decided to go buy an over the range type microwave and install that. I had my doubts that I could do it myself and thought a few times about how to find a contractor to do it for me but I kept plugging away and somehow it turned out perfectly. Here's a pic of the finished product - let me know what you think ...... you should be able to click it for a bigger shot ......

The wiring was a little bit above my head but I ended up having to install an outlet in the cabinet above it and then drilling the holes was a little tricky too - I don't really like drilling big holes in my walls (or my cabinets for that matter)!
Other than that I went over to the Bartek's for dinner on Thursday which was good (other than the fire in the over that smoked our rolls). I raked the lawn before I went over there and it was beautiful both Thursday and Friday with highs only in the 60's - it's DEF feeling like fall around here. The bummer part of the weekend is that it poured all day yesterday and I couldn't do anything outside, I did end up going out at the end of the day and re-primed my well pump as it was running constantly and for some reason it lost its pressure but that is back again operational. Montie and I also went to Walmart and got another six bags of mulch as one of these days I need to do my other planters - so at least having it in the garage will be a start to my motivational process. I'm also still working on the kitchen chalking project and that'll take some time, I've got most of the cracked old stuff pulled out and want to fill in the big cracks with wood putty and then sand it and paint it so I won't have to use chalk again ...... I really do hate that stuff.
And I guess other that that it's back to work as usual tomorrow, at least for a few more weeks before we do things all over again. My hotels aren't real busy in December so it should give me the opportunity to get some projects out of the way and I also might be taking a trip to Atlanta at some point to see if I can help one of our hotels out. Other than that it's the same ole same ole with me - try and let me know what you have been up to when you have a chance. Adios amigos!
Well, I guess that my week of vacation has just about come to an end at this point :( But what a beautiful week I had - it was the most perfect weather that I could have asked for with temps in the mid-70's and sunshine, well at least up until Friday that is. And the other good thing is that the upcoming week is only going to be three days long and then it will be time for a four day weekend - I think that I timed it rather nicely actually. Here is the list of everything that I accomplished, and I think that it'll be nice to get back to my regular job so that I don't wear myself out any more than I did ....... at least all of the sides of the house have been pressure washed and are looking brand spanking new again.

The Ford Dealer ticked me off as I had an appointment for Thursday to replace my emissions canister thing - I get there and then they tell me that the part won't be in until Friday. So I went back on Saturday and took care of the recall, plus I almost bought a new F150 while I was there but I held off but I loved the one that I was looking at! I need to wait until at least May of next year so that I can say that I kept my SportsTrac at least three years - but I'm starting to get that itch to drive something new all ready. The didn't even have any new Mustangs to look at, I was kind of bummed out about that. And I hate dealing with Sales Managers and the games that they play ...... I'm going to buy my next one on line like I did my last one for sure!
There were only a couple of things that I didn't get around to which are as follows, but I guess that I can do those on the weekends now that my lawn doesn't take up very much time these days -
• Clean out Garage
• De-rust Driveway
• Clean Out SportsTrac
My one hour massage on Thursday was great too, long overdue as it's been more than six months and she cracked just about everything in me. I need to not wait as long for the next one as that, that I do know. Other than that though not too much going on, it's warming back up again and was humid as all heck again today - so hopefully that won't stay around for too much longer. And I just hope that I can get back into my routine of getting up before the crack of dawn again - but guess that I'll find that out soon enough as it's only eight hours away at this point. Have a wonderful and super duper Thanksgiving Day, don't eat to much and stay in touch when you can. Talk with you later.
Happy November 14th Everyone! It's me, the vacationing Hanno here and all is well, the weather has finally cooled off and it's feeling more like Fall these days. This weekend was still pretty nice although it wasn't really sunny yesterday but we did see some today - temps were barely at 70' for the highs and down in the 50's at night, feels pretty darn good actually. It's been warming up this evening though so I don't know what that means - it was 63' when I went to Walmart this afternoon and then it was like 68' a couple of hours later - so maybe there's a front moving through that is going to warm things up again?
Not much going on here though other than the weather, I didn't even mow the lawn yesterday as it really hasn't been growing. So, instead I went out and trimmed my bushes around the front of the house as they were as tall as I am and are suppose to be more of an ornamental thing - plus pulled up all of the grass that's been growing around them and remulched, two huge lawn bags later and things are looking mighty fine once again! I still need to do two more of them that are on the side of the house as the weeds are so thick you can't even see the little bushes any more - but they are on my to-do list that's all made out of everything that I want to accomplish this week.
And after I chose to take this week off I realized another upside of having this week off and not next week (T-Day Week, dang can you believe that that's only a week and a half away!). Oh, the upside is that there are a lot of people that are planning on taking next week off so it'll be like a bonus week for me - as there won't be many around to give me extra things to do :) Plus the weather forecast this week should work out in my favor as it's suppose to be sunny just about all week with a chance of rain maybe on Saturday - and the temps are suppose to be about where they are now so I'll be a happy camper.
Another project that I accomplished today, well it ended up being a lot easier than I had thought that it was going to be but for the last six months or so my garage door wouldn't fully open and it would bend the antenna on my truck when I drove in. I checked everything out this afternoon and thought that I was going to have to adjust the chain on it which didn't look very easy - then came in and pulled out the owners manual and found out that there is a little dial on the controller that controls the up and down gauge. So, one quarter turn later and it was working like a charm - I was so happy that I finally figured it out. I also WD40'd all of the hinges and rollers and now it's so quiet and smooth - plus the light works again and comes on when you walk past the doorway again - it's working perfectly!
I also have to take my truck in to the dealer for a recall, that's another thing on my to-do list of things I want to do this week and have an appointment for Thursday morning. Something to do with the emissions canister hose or something like that and think that I've been blowing it off for like the last 6 months. I'm going to have to wait while they do their thing - so I hope that it doesn't take them very long ...... but I also wanna check out the new Mustang while I'm there.
Work is going well and I'm pretty much caught up so it worked out well to take some time off, I have a couple of things that I'll still need to do but other than that I'm free ....... and what an amazingly good feeling that is. It's funny too but I've been waking up early all weekend (well, if before 8am is early!) as I think that I know that I can catch up on some R&R this week and didn't need to sleep my weekend away .... not that I did anything with my extra time but at least I wasn't wasting it away in bed.
I guess that's about it - if I have a chance I'll give you an update later on my planned projects, otherwise you might have to wait until next weekend to find out what I got accomplished. Have a great week ahead yourself and I will talk with you later gator. Ta-ta for now :p)
Well, it must be another Sunday night all ready if I'm writing on this thing, and I don't even have much to talk about so it might be a pretty quick blog! It's November 7th, totally dark out by 5pm and down in the 50's at night so I guess we must be getting closer to winter - only another month or so away isn't it? It was a very decent weekend around here, mid-70's both days and cool at night and think that I even turned on my heat one day last week but the ac is back on once again ...... not quite ready to give it up just yet.
My tree guys came yesterday and mulched my stump behind the house, it was like 5pm and I didn't know what the heck the noise was until I looked out and he was just about done - think that it took him all of five minutes to make mince meat of the thing. But then I ended up having to go out this afternoon and pick up the wood chips and chop up some of the roots which took me at least an hour and really messed up my cleaning of the house routine so I've been behind all day ..... but guess that I am caught up and back on schedule once again. They still haven't come back to check on my bent tree but I think that they were going to leave it tied up for a month and then see how it does - I think that it looks really pretty good now so I'm hoping that it stays that way once the take the ropes off of it.
My lawn guys were also here earlier in the week, I've lost all track of time but it might have been on Monday or Tuesday - and they told me that the brown patches that I've been seeing are due to webworms, this little caterpillar thing that eats all of the blades of grass. And then when they mature they turn into this month type thing - and they were flying all over the place yesterday when I was mowing the lawn. My garage is even full of them but I think that the spider webs have caught most of them at this point. They sprayed some stuff to kill off the webthings, but I think that it might be too late this season for it to grow back as it's just about ready to go dormant for the winter.
Not too much else going on though really, budgets are pretty much done and am just working on a few other things to get ready for next year. I'm going to take the week after next off for a vacation and just hang out at the house and do nothing - it's long overdue and I'm actually looking forward to it. I have a whole list of stuff that I want to get done outside before it gets too cold to get it done so I'm hoping and praying that I have good weather and get a chance to do everything that I want to.
Other than that I've got nothing to say - so I hope that your life is doing just as well and you are too! Talk with you later - have a great week and I'll talk with you again sometime soon. Nighto!
