A Day (or Two) in the Life of Scott Hanno

Well, here we are with another Christmas holiday behind us and dang if it didn't seem like this one just flew right by ....... last I remember it was Thanksgiving and now another year has just about come to a close. I didn't do a whole heck of a lot for the holidays though, worked on Wednesday but gave up about 3pm as first my e-mail went down and then my reservation system didn't work - guess that they went on holiday a little bit early. I ended up watching Santa Claus 2 on pay-per-view and it was really a good movie, especially watching it on Christmas Eve made it all the better.

Then on Christmas I got up and made a few calls, went over to Mr. B's for dinner with the family and was over there for about five hours, came home and made a few more calls to the family. I took Friday off as a vacation day but ended up working probably four hours trying to get slightly caught up which I did, well except for my inbox full of rate loads and they'll never go away ....... hehehe, or will they :?) I heard last week that half of my hotels were going away the week of January 12th and the other half the next week so that only leaves about two more weeks, I've even been dreaming about how that's going to happen.

I think that the Marriott here in town is going to sell tomorrow and is long overdue as it's been going on for at least the last six months so we're all waiting to see if it's actually going to happen or not, it'd be better off if they'd just sell the thing! And I also think that my company is buying a Marriott in Texas tomorrow too, kind of funny how we loose one and pick up another on the same day ...... I might even be helping out a little with setting things up with the new one too.

Oh, and dang if it wasn't perfect weather this weekend and was near 70' both Saturday and Sunday - washed my truck on Saturday and it's looking great! I even took off the toneau cover which was the first time since I bought it as I thought that I'd like driving it better without it - but then I got worried about keeping the cover in the garage and if I'd even be able to put it back on so I put it back last night - and fits even better than when I took it off. The thing must weight like 70 lbs too - and dang if it wasn't a challenge getting it back up on top of the bed!

And that's about it for another day, back to work first thing in the morning and hopefully it'll be a more normal of a week than the last, but I do have Thursday off again although New Year's Day doesn't mean all that much to me ........ other than Spring is only another three months away! Hello and another Happy Sunday to ya! And not much to report on this end other than it was a beautiful weekend, nice and sunny and in the mid-60's, no wonder it's been so easy to catch a cold these days. Pretty much all that I did on Saturday was to rake the front and back yard, got two big ole bags of leaves and there are still more to fall off the trees out back, at least I've been doing a little at a time so it hasn't been all too bad. Monto and I went to BK and had some lunch and then we kicked back and watched a movie last night.

Today I slept in, did about 4 loads of laundry and cleaned up the house, other than that I didn't do a whole lot but guess that I'm ready for another week to start - at least it's going to be a short one and should be fairly smooth. Still not all too sure how many of my 12 meetings are going to take place this week - and guess that next week will pretty much be a repeat of this one, maybe not quite as quiet but we'll see.

And if you hadn't noticed I kind of changed the layout of my website, wasn't going to put it up until the 1st of the year but it was too hard to try and work on it while it wasn't published so I just threw it up on Saturday and I'll play with it from there. I did notice on my laptop tonight that it doesn't quite fit on on screen without overlapping a little bit to the right which it shouldn't do - I have my desktop set for a different resolution than this one but I'll have to figure out what's causing that. I was also going to change it completely and have a different template that I was going to use but I have to figure out how to do all of the buttons and rollovers and stuff and need to learn how to use Photoshop 8 or Paintshop 7 in order to do it. I still might use the other one at some point, guess we shall see if I can get it up to meet my standards. I was also going to change my Daily Life page too but there aren't any good ones that I liked available - there used to be more and my current one isn't even offered any more ...... but I might end up changing this too if I can find one that I like well enough.

I guess that's about it - nothing really new going on with me other than I may be picking up a couple of Marriott's in place of my Wyndhams - guess we shall see what life thows my way. I probably won't know much as to what is up until at least after the first of the year - but we are picking up a Marriott in Texas at the end of the month that I think that I am going to be working on. And I guess that's about it for another day - and only four more days till the big day! Nighto, talk with you soon.

Evening to you and here we are at the end of another weekend, and it's a cold one around these parts at that! But at least I finally remembered to buy a zip up sweatshirt while I was at Walmart today - I swear that I have one around here somewhere but I've looked in just about every place that I can think of and still can't find it. And it wasn't too eventful of a weekend, but at least it wasn't as cold yesterday too but it was cloudy all day in probably in the 60's - then the rain came through last night and the temps dropped like a rock today.

I was able to get out and pressure washed the backside of the house and also derusted my back patio and I think that it's looking much better today but it hasn't dried off enough to really tell. And it was funny but right as I was putting everything away it started to pour - and then I came inside and didn't go back out the rest of the day. Hopefully the sun will return again tomorrow but I'm not even sure what the weather is suppose to be like this week.

I tried to watch my Jurassic Park movie on Friday night but the disk was bad and my player skipped like the first 14 chapters, then I watched like the last 20 minutes of it so it was a good thing that I had seen it before. The sound on the surround system is pretty darn good - so I might have to rent it again at a later time. I sent them a note today that I wanted a credit - and they are pretty good about making sure that they give it to me. I also watched Pirates of the Caribbean last night, a Disney flick and it was pretty good but not as good as everyone had been saying. Last weekend I watched Saving Private Ryan and also rented Lord of the Rings Twin Towers but didn't watch that one but did save it for a later day - I dunno, it's something about movies that are 3+ hours long just don't hold my attention that long.

I am also finalize the closing on my refinance deal tomorrow and everything was a piece of cake - we did the convenient closing deal where I don't even have to meet with anyone and they just send me the papers to sign, get notarized and then send them back. I don't even have my first payment due until February - so I can really get a jump start at paying off some principle with the next two months going start towards that. I'm pretty much all set with Christmas too, mailed all of my boxes and cards last week and that's about all she wrote.

And no updates on the work side of things, I'm still doing what I do I guess until someone tells me to do differently. It's not the same as it was though knowing that all of my hotels are going away soon - but if nothing else it'll be interesting to see what happens over the next month. Montie is doing fine and he's still fat and happy and right now is sleeping in a ball on my leather couch ........ and he looks mighty comfy too I might add!

I guess that I'll try this again and it'll really tick me off if I loose things again! Happy Hump everyone, guess the hump is just about done and it looks like we are down to 14 days left before Christmas. Did you enjoy my dancing Santa on my home page, I had to dig him out again from last year and he's still cute but he gets kind of old after a while.

And now for the big news, work is going to get very strange effective immediately as we found out this morning that we lost the management contract on our 12 Wyndhams and within a month they are all going to be converted to Prime Hotels, kind of caught everyone by surprise even though we knew it was a possibility. If you want to read the full story you can click here for the press release - that's basically how we all found out but at least it came from the "big guy" at the top before it was all public knowledge. Today was all ready strange, had a conference call with all of the GM's and the people from corporate, not that we found anything new out but it was all kind of sad ....... a disappointment to say the least.

So, I guess that means my life is going to be changing one way or another come the next few weeks, it's too early yet to say what's going to happen but I guess that I'll hang in there and see what comes my way. And it's kind of funny, but one press release early in the morning can change all of your priorities - my rate loading for next year doesn't seem all that important any more ...... actually it doesn't even matter at this point. Another strange thing is that I read my horoscope each morning on MSN.com and read that about an hour before before I heard the news - and it was about something that was going to change that was going to impact me for months to come, something like my kid going to college or me moving across the country and said "uh-oh", and then came this. Not the first time that has happened either, kind of weird how those things work.

Well, just giving you an update - I'm over my cold that I had all weekend and it was pretty short lived and well planned to occur on my days off, it rained over night and went from 70' yesterday down to near freezing tonight ....... I'll probably catch another cold with this strange weather! I did hang my xmas lights outside last weekend, that was the highlight of my last post that wasn't. Son of a dog, I just spent the last 30 minutes writing up the weekend in review only to post it and loose the whole thing ........ another perfect ending to a rough kind of Mondays. That's about it - I ain't doing it again so I'll catch ya all on the flip side. I'm audi - talk with you later.
