A Day (or Two) in the Life of Scott Hanno

Well, well well - I guess that it's been a while since I last wrote on this thing ...... but I guess that you have probably all ready figured that out. And now the Memorial Day holiday is all ready behind us - long time in coming as the last holiday that we had was New Year's Day ...... dang that was a long time too! But at least we are now on a roll with the 4th right around the corner and then Labor Day, then I guess after that it'll be T-Day ...... where does the time go :?) We had a wonderfully hot and humid weekend around these parts - the sun was shining each day without a trace of rain and it was in the mid-80's each day, thinking that I'm not used to this weather yet as I find it HOTTER than heck!

And it's been so long that I last wrote on here that I don't even think that I mentioned that I got contact lens last weekend and while I never thought that I was going to be able to put them in and take them out I liked the thought that I would have them on all of the time and I might actually be able to see. And I went to the doctor in the first place as I was waking up in the middle of the night with a throbbing pain in my left eye and knew that it was either that I wasn't wearing my glasses enough and it was causing a strain or that I've got too much stress in my life ....... well, maybe a little bit of both :) But since I started wearing the contacts I haven't woken up once like I was before so I think that I might be on the right track - and it is super awesome to be able to read everything without having to have my glasses with me. I'm still not sure if I've got the best pair for me as I'm not seeing distance as clearly as I was before - but went back for my follow-up visit yesterday and guess that he wants me to try another brand but didn't have any samples available but is going to give me a call when they come in. I'm also getting better at putting them in and I'm down from about 20 minutes trying to get them in to 10 minutes - and today I was even able to put them in first time and took me only a couple of minutes. I think that I can get used to using them - with a little practice I think that I'll be just fine.

And I didn't even mow my lawn this weekend but went out on Saturday and trimmed 1/2 of my front bushes by hand - but then bought an electic bush trimmer yesterday at Walmart and I should have bought one of those three years ago as the thing is so sweet! I now even have nice round bushes instead of the crap that I did by hand - and I'm even thinking that after a while I can even move up to Disney Characters with the mickey ears and everything with a little practice! And I'm thinking that the lawn could use a chance to grow out a little bit as I've been mowing it every week and even have a hard time telling where I'm mowing - and guess that it didn't really need it so I'll wait until next week.

I also did alot of work today too which should make for a much easier week, just can't believe that it's back to work in the morning and that is really going to suck. I guess that's about it for today and if nothing else at least I'm all refreshed and ready to get back to work. Oh, and I ordered a sweet desk yesterday for my home office that I have been wanting for at least the last six months, found a place on-line at a price 50% less than what Office Depot wanted - and should be here in a couple of weeks. I'll upload a pic when I get the thing in place and all put together - but might take me until Christmas depending on how many pieces it comes in!!!

I guess that it's another Sunday night in paradise so you know what that means - yup, it's back to work in the morning :( And it was kind of a "going away" party kind of weekend for those leaving at work, had one party Friday evening at the hotel for our Controller and our Director of Catering and then I went to a house party for the official goodbye to my boss who went and became a GM at another hotel. It was at a beautiful house too, right on the water and was three stories and they have a little patio out back where we all hung out - and it was even a nice evening after the scorching heat from yesterday.

And I sweated my butt off yesterday working on the lawn, and it was so hot that after I got done mowing it and came inside that I couldn't even go back out and finish up the weed wacking - it can wait until next week I'm sure. I also may have to call and check on my weed-guys as I haven't seen them again since the first time they were here in April and it's going on six weeks - so I'm not sure if they dropped me or if they just haven't gotten around to stopping by this month yet. I also went and had my eyes checked yesterday as I've been having trouble with waking up in the middle of the night with my left eye throbbing with pain - and I think that the signs of that from what the doctor thought it might have been glycoma - but after a few other tests he pretty much ruled that out. But he did prescribe me bi-focals and guess that I hadn't been wearing my reading glasses enough and it was causing eye strain so I went and ordered contact lens so that I'd be sure to wear them all of the time. I'm having one heck of a time with them though so I'm not sure that I'll get any better at it - but if it doesn't get easier putting them in and taking them out than I'm not sure that I will keep wearing them. At least I can see better all of the time, and think that it might solve my other issue with my sleeping.

Montie still isn't back to his old self either so I still might decide to take him to the doctor to try and figure out what he did to his left leg, was going to take him in on Friday but they were too booked and I would have had to leave him there all day. I might call them again tomorrow and see if they aren't quite so busy - but I know that whatever he did it's still bothering him tonight, just some times more than others.

And I guess that's the weekend in a nutshell, didn't do a whole lot but I'm all ready not enjoying the heat ....... but oh well, in another four months it should be all over again. And I think that I just figured out what was up with this thing and my pasword changed on another site due to issues I had over the weekend and guess that it affected my uploading of my comments too - so now all seems to be working, at least for now. Montie is finally sleeping but I'm not sure how he's going to walk outside to do his thing - might have to take him in to the vet tomorrow if he's in just as much pain. I dunno, he's an old couch potato - wishing my life was just as great!

This week has been off to a good start but it's been another crazy one, still not caught up from being gone last week and then not having a computer this weekend but I'm getting closer - it still kind of amazes me that everyone expects everything that I normally do when I'm not even here ....... I just kind of blow off the comments and move on to the next thing. I'm still playing with the new hotels thing where I went last week and have most of the access issues worked out at this point - I almost feel like a hacker at this point getting in to all of their systems the best that I can. I still don't know how to use the systems but guess that I'll figure that out come another day.

And since I've spent the last half hour trying to figure out this thing that's about all of the time I've got for tonight so I might try again on another night. Take it easy and have a great remainder to another week - Memorial Day is within our sites which means another extray day :) Good night, take care and I'll talk with you when I talk with you again.

Something is wrong with my pup, seems his left hind leg is hurting him and he can barely walk on it and not sure what it is as I didn't see him hurt it in any way.

Well, I was going to write some stuff on here tonight but it's been slower than heck and took me the last 30 minutes to get this far :( And the way the weekend has been going with computers, it's nothing new as our network at work has been down since Friday just when I needed to get caught up ....... so as you can guess it was one long day at the office today!

Better days tomorrow though, it has to be - and I hope that it goes well for you too. Night, all is well here I guess and I'll try and write more on another day.

Well, this week sure did turn out differently than I had thought that it was going to on Sunday when I last wrote. I am sitting in Dallas TX tonight and got here last night, late at about 2am and set my wake up call for 6am but don't think that I ever got it - I just remember my alarm clock going off at like 10 of and then I said that I'd wait until the phone rang and didn't wake up until 7:45! Oh, and the reason that I'm here is that we found out on Tuesday that we were taking over 12 Wyndham Hotels this Sunday night and we needed to at least have a crash course on the reservations systems before then - so I found out at 3pm yesterday that I was coming to their corporate office on a flight at 7pm last night. Then storms in Atlanta made flights leave PCB late, then there were other delays which put us an hour behind leaving Atlanta and then my bag didn't make the flight that I was on so I had to wait close to an hour at the aiport here for it to get here ....... one long day yesterday after working all day on top of that.

I had to ship my pup off to one of the girls in the Sales Office who also has a pup so I'm sure that things are interesting at her house tonight. I just called and she said that my boy misses me so I might see if I can pick him up tomorrow night when I get home instead of Saturday when I get in at like 10:30pm. I might even check tomorrow and see if there is an earlier flight, probably could do that as I don't have all that much left to do here.

And I guess that I should get back to work and figuring out what I still need to do tomorrow, plus I need to iron and repack my suitcase - plus ER is on and I haven't really been watching the first 15 minutes of that. So, just giving you an update - and btw, I haven't even seen any cowboys yet, guess they all must live in Houston or something :) Good night and TGIF ..... at least the last half of this week seemed to fly right by!

I guess that it's another Sunday night which means that it's back to work in the morning and it was another lovely weekend except the summer temps are right around the corner. Yesterday wasn't too bad but it was mostly cloudy, then rained for about 20 minutes in the afternoon and then it got hot ....... today had to have been in the high 80's at least. Not all too much to report though, worked on the lawn for most of the day yesterday and then went out for chinese - and I am even having more hopes that the lawn may actually grow back someday.

The guy that built my house stopped by yesterday as I was out front to let me know that they got enough signatures to move ahead with paving my side road so that's good news, now I guess they are also trying to get another side street to join up so that it'll be less expensive for everyone ...... he even thought that maybe before the end of the summer it might be done, me on the other hand won't be holding my breath. I guess that I can't imagine what it would look like out there to have the street paved, might even look a heck of alot different.

I also got a reminder today that last year I ordered flowers for my Mom's grave for Mother's Day, and it hadn't even dawned on me that I did that last year but need to call and order some this week. Even if I can't be there to see what they look like I'm sure that there are alot of other people that do see them, and it'll be good to show how much we loved her and how much we miss her ..... what was it - a year and a half ago? I also got a gallon of New York State maple syrup in the mail on Friday from my Aunt and Uncles for setting them up with hotel rooms in Orlando last month ...... but dang, a gallon is like a lifetime supply for me with the amount of syrup that I end up using. They didn't have to do that though as it wasn't a big deal to set up for them, I was just happy to get a thank you card from them a while back.

Not too much else going on, last week was a madhouse at work and I would suspect that it'll be the same this week but don't think that I have too many deadlines to meet but we'll see how things go. Oh, and I'm sorry that I haven't been updating this blog as often as I had in the past but it's been one hectic time and end up bringing work home at night to try and get caught up and then don't feel like logging on to the laptop at the end of the day - I'm now trying to work from home for two hours each day instead of two days a week but don't think that's helped all that much, but guess that it's too early to tell.
