Man if I'm not glad that I've made it this far through the week as I can see daylight at this point, now all I have to do is make it through Monday's budget meeting and I should be all set. Yesterday's budget meeting was a killer and messed me all up for today's Sales Strategy Meeting, it started at 10am and I left at 6:45pm and then got home around 7pm. I really didn't think that I could pull off even having a Sales Stategy Meeting today and told them that last night, but then came home and spent another two hours last night and two hours this morning, and I was ready at the normal time. The only trouble was that our GM was off property at another meeting so even after that it didn't look like we were even going to have the meeting. We did though, just an hour late and all in all I survived the day.

I've still got another Sales Strategy Meeting tomorrow with the other property, that is if they can get together and call me but I'll send them the reports and see where it goes from there. As I said I can see the light at the end of the tunnel at least, and with only one more day this week I think that I might just make it. And now they are having a budget review at 9am on Saturday, I'm just not sure if I'm required to attend but I really hope that I'm not. Once we get through the VP's visit on Monday, they'll fly out Monday afternoon and then life should be all back to normal - well, as normal as things get.

Other than that I guess that nothing else is going on, it's been a week of non-stop work and haven't had time to think about anything else. My dvd's haven't gotten here yet so I am hoping that they show up tomorrow, at least if they don't then I know that I'll have to order them early than the Sunday before the weekend. I might have to go to the Movie Gallery if they don't and see what else I can find to watch this weekend. Oh, and I had 7 trick-or-treaters tonight, I think that most of the kids that showed lived across the street - they all loved Montie more than the candy! I'm not really fond of Halloween though, can't say that I ever have been but I guess we all have to deal with stuff as it comes our way.

Not too sure what the plans are for this weekend, still suppose to be quite chilly and think that I might be able to pass on the lawn again - need to move my pile of dirt from next to my new palm tree somewhere - and yes, take a picture of it also :) I guess that's about it for tonight, ER is on and it's been ok so far, so I'm gonna chill out and just watch that for a while. Stop back again sometime soon, I'll try and write and let you know what I've been up to. Have a GREAT weekend, and I'll talk with you all again sometime soon.

I was figuring that I probably wouldn't get around to writing anything down tonight as I've been on a pc all day again, but tomorrow I might not have time for it if it goes the way that I think that it might. I've got to go to a budget prep meeting starting at 10am which I know is going to last at least a couple of hours where they tell us what we should say at our Corporate Review Meeting on Monday and it's my Sales Strategy Prep Meeting Day :( Plus I might even have two of those meeting to get ready for this week, guess that I'll find out if I'm having one at my other hotel sometime tomorrow.

At least if nothing else I am really starting to get used to working from home for the start of my day, and can get a ton done here and into work before half of my office even shows up for the day. And in starting out the day with the morning stuff out of the way I can jump right in to what I need to accomplish and am finding that I am getting alot more done that I had actually thought. The only down side is that it's starting to seem like that all I do with my every waking hour is do work, I get up and do work first thing, take a shower and do more work, go to work and do work, then come home and do my homework. I guess that when I think about it I'm not really spending any more time than before but it's just spread out where it kind of seems like that's all that I do. I think that I'll adjust though, at least I'm less stressed out at work.

And dang if it didn't rain today, all day it poured and at times it monsooned, bet that we picked up at least 7" since this morning. At least my palm tree got a nice drink to start his new life but the hotel was leaking like a syve (?) with all of the holes in the roof. And I took the 10 day forecast to our forecast meeting today - and Saturday night is suppose to be down to 38' that night, might even need to see if the heat in this place works again. That's ok though, I'm kind of looking forward to some cooler weather, but cold weather kind of sucks. I must say that is one thing that I've learned by living all over the country is that I adapt pretty well, I can live in the Northeast through the worst of the winters if I need to ....... but I don't need to right now so I'll just deal with temps in the 30's once in a while :) At least I know that I can do it and can even drive in it, Montie can too even if the snowbanks are up to his head he still adapt with the best of them!

There is really nothing else to report though, it was a normal day and I'm slightly ahead of schedule but I'm sure that that's all going to change come tomorrow. I guess that I'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out, I need to work on those sad, puppy dog eyes and depressed and stressed out look so that they won't keep me at the meeting tomorrow anymore than I need to - there's nothing else that drives me crazier than sitting in a meeting goofing off like we've got nothing better to do - straight and to the point, let's get this thing done is me!

I'll talk to you another day, might not be tomorrow but it will be one of these days sometime soon - so till then take care and remember to be you ....... there is no one else like you so just be all that you can be, k? ..... and is that the slogan from the Marines :?) Good nighto from the Scotto (and Monto too!), choose to choose the right attitude for the day!

Monday's DONE Duder :) And it was a pretty good one at that, got a ton of stuff done this morning working at home and then everything else that I needed to do this afternoon, even a few other things that have been sitting on the back burner for a while. All is well though and I hope that the rest of the week goes just as well, but guess that we shall see as life goes on. I don't think that I'm going to be liking this time-change thing but maybe I'll get used to it, but Montie was giving me the evil-eye all night thinking that I was an hour late. It was pitch black by the time I left work at 5:30pm, at least it's a little lighter earlier in the morning if that means anything.

Oh, and I came home and found my sable palm tree planted right where I left my flag, at least I think it was a new tree as it was a tad bit too dark to really see it. I guess that I won't be taking any pictures of it anytime soon, unless I get out there one of these mornings but otherwise it'll be this weekend. It's shorter than I last remembered it though, guess with the root ball buried those things happen. But with all kidding aside, I did touch it and said a short prayer for my Mom, she has moved on to a better place and now the new tree is here in her place :) Thanks Pamela and Tania, it's a token of your friendship that has brought it to me. And besides that, the only trouble is that I have this big ole pile of dirt sitting next to it that's gonna kill the lawn (what's left of it) unless I get rid of it, and I'm not really quite sure where I'm going to move it to. I do wanna see it during the daytime though, and am going to have to think of of name for him (it looks like a boy tree) ....... maybe Peter the Palm but I'm not sure that I like that all that much.

Other than that I finally got my vcr playing and that was REALLY the final step of hooking up this dang thing, so it's all working now and I'm not touching it again. I got an e-mail from my DVD Overnight.com thing that the dvd's that I ordered yesterday shipped today so I should have them by the weekend for sure. It's gonna be Hannibal and Moulholland (?) Drive, a couple of thrillers to keep me occupied this weekend. I even told my GM about that site and he was interested, I think that it's almost as sweet as the sliced bread idea :)

Oh, and that reminded me that I promised a pic of the new home theater layout so if you want to see it you can click here to take a look. Sorry, but it doesn't take the bestest pic but at least you can get the general idea :) And that's it for another day in the life of the Shanno - i.e. Scott Hanno but I guess that you figured that out all ready. Enjoy your week, remember - where there is a WILL there is a WAY! Night, ta-ta, talk to ya all on another day :o)~

Sunday, October 27, 2002

Dang, I just realized that Halloween is at the end of this week and I didn't buy any candy today while shopping at Walmart ...... now what am I gonna do :?) I guess that I can withhold some of the goods that I brought from work until after I see how much I need here and usually it's not much - guess that the whole Trick or Treating thing is a thing of the past. And not a whole lot to report tonight other than I got pretty much everything that I set out to do done, and I'm ready for another new week - well, as ready as I can be. It wasn't too bad of a weather day either, started out cloudy but then the sun came out, wasn't much hotter than about 81' but still nice and humid - should have found some time to do something outside.

And the time has changed and it's dark by 5pm all ready, being on the end of Central Time it gets even darker earlier than on East Coast time, before we get done with the winter thing it'll be dark by close to 4pm - a weird way to end the work day. I'm thinking that it should be an ok week ahead of me other than doing some budget prep for our meeting next Monday - things should be pretty much the norm, guess that we shall see. I just hope that this prep thing doesn't go on for hours - I know what to say and besides, they'll be lucky if I say anything at all during our presentation meeting.

I don't really have anything much else to say, kind of watching Boomtown now so I'm kind of preoccupied with that while writing this, sorry about that. I was going to take a pic of my new tv/home theater setup but never got around to it but maybe another time - it certainly looks beter than it did a few days ago. I'm really liking the speaker stands, these poles that the speakers sit on and look pretty darn neat, at least it's mucho better than having them sitting on top of the tv. Oh, and I did end up renting a couple of dvd's today from that website that I mentioned last night, figure that if I order them on Sunday I should have them in time for the following weekend - guess I'll see how it goes this time.

I guess that that's about it for today and I'll end this here, so look for more news in a few, k :?) Talk with you later - have a GREAT new beginning to another new week!

Saturday, October 26, 2002

Well, Saturday has come and gone all ready and I didn't even really do anything today ...... it was another one of those rain all day/no motivation kind of days. But I did sleep in which I guess was much needed as I woke up at 8am and was going to get up and let the pup out, but then layed back down and didn't wake up again until 10am - so I guess that I did need it. Then I really couldn't get motivated to do anything outside, then it started sprinkling and then pouring so by that point that kind of solved that.

I did end up doing some work for my new hotel putting together some reports that I'll need and think that I'm somewhat caught up with them. Then I decided to do my 2003 Golf Packages as the rates weren't in there for all of next year's seasons, so I changed them all in MARSHA, my reservations system. Then I redid our Golf Packages web page with the updated rates, plus we are just about ready to start selling a new Golf the Florida Gulf package that allows golfers to choose between about 9 different courses so I loaded that information on the web too. Still not quite done with it nor are we ready to start selling it - so I kind of hope that no one books any or I'll have to figure out what I'm going to do.

Then this afternoon I went to Circuit City and found a perfect audio componet stand for my DVD, VCR & converter box - plus a couple of speakers stands, some a/v cables and some screen cleaner for my tv. I then had to come home and put the thing together, at least there wasn't any glue involved so I did ok and only took me about an hour. Then I had to unplug my entire system and rewire it once it was on the stand - that took me another hour but have it all hooked up again. Everything is working now and I'm happy about that - only took me a month before I had it all figured out. And that's another reason why I'm writing early tonight as I have a DVD to watch that my cafeteria friend gave me for the weekend - Spy Games I think is the name of it. I also rented a pay-per-view movie last night - Changing Lanes and that was also a pretty good flick ....... I'm getting into my 9pm Show Time each weekend night :) I also found a website where you can rent DVD's for $4.00 each and the ship them to you in less than four days, then you have seven days to watch it and then just throw it in a mailbox and it goes right back to them - gonna try them too as its not any more than if I actually went to the video store. If you wanna check them out you can click here - and they even give you your first rental free :)

And dang, I never got around to pressure washing anything today, not too sure what the weather tomorrow is going to be but I won't have time as it's the house cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry doing kind of a day ....... oh well, one of these days I'll finally get around to doing it! Oh, and no sable palm tree yet either - but I'll be sure to take a pic once it's here, I promise :) Good night from here!

Thursday, October 24, 2002

Well, I made it through the day and hope that you did too - and tomorrow is Friday and that's a very good thing!!! I made it through all of my meetings coming out ok (at least in my eyes I did), got all of my work accomplished and even had time to attend the going-away party tonight before I left. Still getting used to working at home in the mornings but it's getting easier, and think that once I get it down to a routine it'll be better for everyone involved.

I'm not quite sure what the weather forecast is yet for the weekend but it's been rainy and cloudy both yesterday and today, it must have rained for like 5 hours straight last night. I just hope that it's moved on from here, but it was still really cloudy when I got home from work tonight. And this time-change thing this weekend is really going to suck, but guess that we all just need to suck it up and adjust, it's one of those changes that we can't change so we've just got to go with the flow. My lawn sure isn't going to need mowing this weekend so maybe I can get around to some much needed pressure washing of the house, guess that the weather will have an impact on that so I'll have to wait and see how it goes. I really need to get caught up on some work this weekend if nothing else, and guess that I can do that rain or shine and as it won't really matter what it's like outside.

A couple of people from work are trying to get me to go out to dinner tomorrow night, not sure if I want to do that but told them that I would let them know tomorrow, we'll see how it goes but I like my Friday nights at home. I also got my cable converter box figured out and it was in the wiring, I called them again I think two night ago and they told me that I had to use RCA cables to get the reception in stereo - then had to use AV2 as the source for the video and now it's working just fine. The only problem is that my rca cable isn't long enough so I've got my converter sitting on the floor and I really need to find a nice piece of furniture to set it all up on (permantly) as I haven't figured out what to do with my DVD player either. Maybe I need to do some shopping for that this weekend too.

I guess that's about it, my day in a nutshell and dang if it didn't fly right by, hoping that tomorrow does also but that it's just not so hectic and I can get caught up a little bit. Guess that only time will tell, I'll let you know how it goes. Night, talk with you again sometime soon.

Wednesday, October 23, 2002

Dang, what a day and I'm glad that this one has come to a close, that's all I have to say for tonight! But seriously, I think that I'm starting to get used to working from home in the mornings and have started to get a routine going, let's just see if I can keep it going as I have the last couple of days. I've been working an hour here and then going in, still there by 8am but I get 2 hours worth of work done here before I even go into the office, I think that I'll like it more the more I get used to it. I'm pretty much ready for my Sales Strategy Meeting tomorrow although it wasn't an easy day to concentrate on anything with the other stuff that was going on today.

I had to let one of my girls go today (our choice, not her's) and after working with her for the past two years that isn't an easy thing to do. But she got what she had coming so I can't feel too sorry for her, but I was amazed at how the other girls in the office didn't hesitate to forgive her for what she did and hugged her and told her that they would have done anything for her is she had just asked. We've got a small family ........ 7 of us and we've all been working day in and day out for more than two years (except for one that was hired about 3 months ago), it was very hard on all of us to see her go. I have to sometimes step outside of the box and maintain a business relationship and not get involved in the emotions that everyone else does, and today was definitely one of those days as I felt no pity as to what comes to those who screw over their friends.

Enough of that - it's behind me now but I knew it was coming yesterday and I'm glad that today came (well, not glad just relieved). Tomorrow should be a busy day as I've got a conference call scheduled at 10am with my new hotel for them to outline what they want me to do - should be interesting if nothing else as I've really not even talked to any of them very much. I've pretty much figured out what I want to discuss, not quite sure what's on their agenda until I get there. Then I have Sales Strategy Meeting at 2pm, a Department Meeting at 3:30pm and then a going away party for a girl in Human Resources at 5pm. Dang glad that I work from home for an hour so at least I can get a little bit of work done before I go into the office.

Oh, and I talked to my brother last night and finally called him and got through, and I've figured out as long was we don't talk about the issue that I was dealing with last week that we are back to normal, we talked for a while and that was a load off of my worried mind :) He's a butt-head and I love him for being him, I know that what he does sometimes isn't always him and I'll leave it at that. And hehehe, it's kind of nice having limited access to this thing - at least if I know who's reading it I don't have to be so worried about what I say.

It's downhill from here, if I make it through tomorrow than I should be able to last the week. And I guess that's about it tonight, check back again sometime again and see what you might find. Night for now - there's always tomorrow. Remember - smile as it can't be all that bad - you control your attitude so choose a positive one tomorrow, no matter what else comes your way :) LATER Gator, ta-ta till then!

Monday, October 21, 2002

Hello and a happy ending to another Monday :) Not a bad day, actually seemed like a short one with this working at home in the morning thing, got more done before 9am than I usually accomplish by noon on a regular day! It was still kind of out of my normal routine that I guess why it felt weird, but maybe if I do it more I might get used to it, we'll have to see. I could go in at the normal time the next couple of days, or I can spend an hour working from here and get all of my morning stuff out of the way - then leave for work and hit the ground running - I dunno, guess that I'll just have to play it by ear (is that the right saying?).

And I guess that I made up with my General Manager today, at least he asked me if I was still talking to him and that my little $150k in wholesale revenue was important to him, and even that he appreciated me trying to stand up for my beliefs ....... just that that battle was one that I didn't want to fight at that specific moment. Not too much else to report though, we are under tight security this week with a Natl Defense group that's in so it's photo id's or you don't even get in the door. No tree at my door either, but guess that I didn't figure that it would be here this soon anyways.

I thought that I should try and call my brother to kind of open up the lines of communication again, but I tried a few minutes ago and the phone was busy, so I'll try again in a few more and if it's still busy then I guess that I'll try another night. The weather is pretty darn good too but has warmed up a bit - back in the low 80's during the day but that still seems pretty nice compared to the high 90's of summer. I think this weather is suppose to hang around for a while - I'll take it while I can get it.

I guess that I really have nothing much to say tonight so I'm going to end this and watch Crossing Jordan again - back to the ole' NBC schedule for the rest of the week. I still haven't called my cable company to ask about my converter, but the more I think about it the more that I know that it's the box that's messing the stereo sound up - think that I'll see if I can take my box in and get another one versus having to try to meet them here some afternoon (which is almost impossible unless you want to take a 1/2 day off). I did convince my Director of Sales into buying the same home theater system as I bought as he bought almost the exact same tv when I did - and he wanted to see how I liked it before he invested ...... but after my DVD experience from last weekend he was sold (and he said that he couldn't find a better price than what I found for the system that I got). Now he wants it tomorrow - but guess that he'll have to wait like the rest of us.

Ok, night for now, only one more week before it'll be back to standard time, that'll suck for sure having it dark by 5pm :( But I guess that we all adjust - and besides, if you turn the lights on it's almost like daylight anyways. Night, have a GREAT Tuesday and I'll talk with you all again sometime soon.

Sunday, October 20, 2002

For some reason I definitely had what seemed like a good weekend, not sure what it was but got alot of things done. I even rented the first DVD of my life yesterday and watched Black Hawk Down last night - and dang if this home theater doesn't rock!!! The movie was pretty graphic and I felt sorry for them - but with all of the helicopters flying around they sounded so kewl on my system. DVD's rule, now I just have to find an easier way to rent them. I do think that my cable box is messed up though as if I run the cable through the converter and then into the tv the sound comes out in mono - but if I plug the cable directly into the tv it's in stereo, and all I can figure out is that the box is messed up as there is no other reason for it. I called yesterday but they were no help - so I might need to have them come out and look at it ....... there are way too many wires hooked up in this thing!

I got the lawn mowed and detailed yesterday and it's looking as well as it can with a bunch of dead grass spots in the middle of it, but it's another one of those "good grass comes to those who waits" kind of things. Montie got his haircut yesterday and he's still wearing his bandana tonight - it's kind of kewt as it's a halloween theme with ghosts and goblins on it. His bump went away too and I can't even tell where it once was, so either by poking it with the needle the other day relieved the pressure or it just went away on its own ...... pretty darn quick though huh :?)

And I went yesterday and picked out my tree ..... a sable palm that a couple of girls bought for me as a gift for my Mom's 1st year of not being here. It was funny too as the place that I bought it at was this strange little place, a dirt road off of Back Beach Road and at the end was this old cabin, and there was even an old man rocking in his rocking chair on the front porch. I felt like I was really in the back woods ...... hehehe, at least they all seemed to have their front teeth :) I picked out the smallest tree that I could find, it was 10' tall but short in comparison to the others as I wanted it to represent a new beginning in the life of my little tree, Mom reborn again in the shape of a palm. I even had to cut down a tree in my side yard to make room for the new one, some scrappy looking thing that was just growing there when I moved in. I have my flag out there where I think that I want it and not sure when they'll come over to plant the new one - but they said that it wouldn't be longer than a week, probably shorter since I live so close to them. So, one of these days I'll come home to find it all planted and living at it's new home, can't wait to see what it looks like (and I'll share a picture, I promise!).

I'm thinking that this week should be a pretty normal one, nothing out of the ordinary going on really other than I begin taking care of that other hotel for a while. I got it ok'd that I come in an hour or two later each day so that I can concentrate on the other hotel before I get into my office and get swamped with other requests, so I don't really have to be in the office until around 9am from now on (but I have to work two hours from home so really it's not much different). But if you do need to get ahold of me before I get there, call me at home after 7am. If nothing else, it's one step closer to working from home - which would be the ultimate job someday in the future.

I guess that's about it for tonight as I'm watching Boomtown, it's an ok show but not really worth the ratings they say. I hope that you and I have a great week, and I'll talk with you all sometime in the near future. Talk with you soon, stay happy till then :)

Friday, October 18, 2002

Man, am I glad that this week is finally over as it was a very long & busy one - barely kept my head above water there for a few days. And if you are reading this than I guess that you got the key to the backdoor as it seems that everyone is interested in reading my stuff, which I had originally intended to share with a few of the people I know. But now it's like the whole world is reading it and guess that that's one of the drawbacks of the internet - and also why this place is called the WORLD wide web :( I thought that I was pretty careful about what I said on here, but even some of my comments can be construted in the wrong way so it's almost best not to say anything - or at least hide them where I can control who sees them. So, if you're in you're in, if you're not - that page no longer exists on my site (at least for now).

I took Montie in to the vet this evening, tried to go last night after work but the doctor was in surgery and couldn't see him so I made an appointment for 6pm tonight. I noticed that he had this lump on his right side that I hadn't noticed a few days ago and it seemed like it was getting bigger and I was worried that it was a tumor or something - I had no idea what it was. But after the doctor stuck a needle in him and drew out some of the juice I guess that it's really nothing, happens to the best of us old people but is just something to keep an eye on. I had a cyst kinda-thing behind my ear a year or so ago and they cut it out, turned out to be nothing but it bothered me and it's better to be safe then sorry. The doc said that it was a lympnomia or something like that - mostly a lump made up of mostly fat cells (must be those bacon strips from Wendy's I think!) and he wasn't too worried about it - said that only under rare circumstances is it ever cancer ....... but we'll be watching it just the same.

And to end the perfect week I got a call around 7:30pm from my GM about a person that was attending a group this weekend but had booked through an internet wholesaler at a lower rate than the group rate ....... I tried to reason with him but he wasn't listening and I've learned just to say "yes sir" and do whatever is requested, there is no winning some battles and you have to pick the ones that are really worth it ....... and just pass on the ones that don't mean squat. Ticked me off though and left a bad taste in my mouth - kinda of turned me off from doing any work that I might have wanted to do tonight.

Oh, but on a good note the weather is incredible ...... mid-50's at night and mid-70's during the day - SUNSHINE all around!!! And it'll make for a nice lawn mowing day come tomorrow, that's for sure! I also really need to wash the front of the house as the thing is filthy and I've been saying that for a month now - so hopefully I can find the time this weekend to do that too. I made a beauty appointment tomorrow for my boy Monto at 10:30am, so at least that'll give me a reason to get up and going tomorrow morning. Other than working around the house on the lawn and stuff that's about all she wrote for plans this weekend - but I do have alot of work that I need to do sometime along the way. I hope that your weather is doing just as well for you and that you have an enjoyable weekend, let me know what you do and I'll talk with you again sometime soon. Night for now ...... I'm one beat 'lil Pup tonight!

Wednesday, October 16, 2002

At least all is back to normal with this thing tonight, seems like every system that I use this week has been acting up for some reason. That's how this morning started with our company e-mail, then it came up a while after I got to work and I started out 20 e-mails in the hole, and they just kept growing from there! One heck of a day though but I guess that we all survived it so that's gotta be a good thing!

I was finally able to do our IPIX photo shoot at noon today and spent nearly two hours with Jill, the girl who took the shots, no one was ready for us as I think that I cried wolf a few too many times with cancelling it the last three weeks straight. I think they are going to come out great though but guess that I'll have to wait and see, had to blow off the one of the ballroom shots as it didn't look good enough to me so I had her shoot a tour of our Circes Sports Bar that we just converted and think that one will come out great! Nice, blue skies with a few fluffy clouds - it was almost the perfect day! I'll be sure to post a link to them here once I get a copy of them - but sorry, not too sure when that'll be.

And while I was entertaining her I was in our Associate of the Month/Manager of the Qtr luncheon leaving a few times to check on her. But if I wasn't shocked to find out that two of the Convention Service Managers nominated me and that I won, and I was up against some pretty stiff competition! I didn't even open up the check but think that it was for a $100, the plaque is even kewler and I would have been happy even if I hadn't have won ....... but it's nice to be appreciated :) Oh, and today was Boss' Day too, so my chickies gave me a card and we had a birthday party in the office for one of my girls, got a gift from a friend in the mail - all in all it was party-party kind of day! All when I was in the weeds trying to do work-work, that's the humorous part! I think that I'll make it to get my Sales Strategy Meeting together in time for the meeting tomorrow, but still have lots to do tomorrow to get ready for it.

I'm having issues with a hotel that I took on managing the inventory for yesterday, think that I'll elaborate more later but I'm still trying to figure out the whole time management thing. The thing is that our hotel wants me to share my hours spent with another hotel and this one could be considerable, but they don't want to give up anything that they've got now ...... it's not like I sit around for 2 or 3 hours each day with nothing else to do all ready! Something's gotta change a little, I'm just not sure what yet.

Oh, and I got my home theater FedEx'd today and it was waiting at my doorstep when I got home tonight - the thing was HUGE! All I did was unpack it and it's sitting over there on the floor, one of these days I'll have to figure it out and hook it all up. I'm impressed with the looks of it if nothing else, haven't heard it play yet but it looks very nice - bigger and better than I had expected. It's a stereo - much like my tuner that I had in my living room before I got the tv ...... with 5 speakers and this huge subwoofer - I think that it'll crank! I still need to find a rack of some sort to put all of this on, along with my cable box and vcr and that other thing, and I don't even know where to look for such a thing ........ anyone got any suggestions?

And my lawn people came again yesterday and left me a note, I think that I'll give them another season to see if they can get things back together again. They said that I had "sod webworms" eating up the lawn and that's where all the dead spots came from, they said the good thing is that it attacks the crabgrass first and they supposable killed them, the told me there is still hope for it but probably won't be till next spring till I see much improvement. Kind of makes sense to me - at least they promise to make me weed-free :)

And I finalized another thing today with my Mom, FedEx'd that off this afternoon and glad that it's behind me as it wasn't an easy thing for me to go through ....... at least some of the harder things in life we have to do we only do once, don't you wish that it was always like that? I'm still ticked at my bank (Peoples First Community Bank) and am moving everything out of them and that's not easy either, at least it's not something that I can do overnight!

Lastly, for your viewing pleasure you can play with this firework show that someone sent me today - click here and open up the page, then click on the black part - the faster you click the better (and even better if you've got a sound card!). And it's been a long week and we are over the hump so that's about it for today, maybe more tomorrow. Thanks for listening and I appreciate it, I'll be sure to talk with you all sometime soon. Good Night!

Not sure if this is working or not, so this is only a test - getting a 500 Server Error right now and not too sure what that's all about. Please stand by :)

Monday, October 14, 2002

Before I forget - have you seen that new Saturn car commercial where a bunch of guys go into the woods and they are unpacking the car and setting up their tents, only to hear the banjos playing off in the distance like that Burt Reynolds movie and they pack up and run off in a dang hurry I guess to avoid the fate that those in the movie experienced ........ pretty funny when you think about it! And it was definitely another Monday but a weird one as I guess that reviewing the Business Plan was on the agenda, just not my agenda. So I spent nearly five hours of the day with a few of my Executive Committee members reading through it line for line but we did get through most of it. The interesting part of it was that mine cut & pasted just fine, I think that my Controller loved me for that as she ended up retyping most everyone else's part - plus except for a couple of rephrasing of a few words, they really had no changes on my part. I do think that that pretty much wraps up my part of the Budget 2003 though - other than attending the Corporate Presentation that is scheduled for Monday, November 4th (yahoo, good time to be had by all!!!).

And even after sitting in that meeting for half the day I really didn't fall all that far behind - plus I got a Room Service cheeseburger out of the deal and you can't beat that! Well, maybe you can - I would have rather had a nice and juicy Philly Cheese Steak but we don't offer such a thing :( Business is doing well so that makes life alot easier also, but if I make the monthly forecast this month it'll be by the last hair on my chinny-chin-chin (or on my bald head! :)

I ended up taking my big ole tv box in to work with me this morning to recycle it - had to hang it out the back of the truck and tie it down to get it to fit. But it's gone now and my home has returned to normal, except I got an e-mail tonight that my home theater shipped today FedEx and will be here in three days - so that puts it's arrival either Thursday or Friday. I'll have to track it and had it sent to work but I love watching it travel on it's way - and it left Los Angeles this afternoon. Pretty kewl just the same - and love using UPS just as much as they scan it all along the way. Still getting used to the new tv though - still looks better from the kitchen which is twice as far away as my recliner - so I might have to move my living room furniture into the kitchen and my kitchen table to my living room and I'll be all set.

And the rest of the week should be interesting, I've got my IPIX shoot scheduled for Wednesday morning, then the Associate of the Month/Manager of the Qtr lunch at noon, then some Travelclick meeting on Thursday and then it'll be Friday again :) But I really don't think that the photo shoot is going to work this week either if Wednesday is anything like today and that is suppose to be the worst weather day, so it'll probably be postponed again. Oh, and our cold front is almost upon us - suppose to be only a high of 70' with lows in the 50's the next couple of days (but hasn't started yet, but today was only in the high 70's at best). And as always, if you wanna check out the weather at the pool, click here and see what's up (unless it's dark or stuck, the thing has a mind of it's own!).

I guess that's about it for today, I guess that all is well tonight in the life of the Shanno.Talk with you all sometime soon, feel free to leave me a note if you are so inclined to do. Good night - it's a new Crossing Jordan so I guess that I'll watch that for a bit. Make it another great week, life has been pre-destined for us, just watch out for the bumps and adjust, enjoy the ride as we go through it!!! Night.

Saturday, October 12, 2002

Well, Saturday night here and the weekend is half over with all ready :( And it was a pretty uneventful day around here though, really had no motivation to do much of anything. My Peaden Air Conditioning semi-annual tune-up and cleaning was scheduled for 12:30pm but the guy ended up showing up around 10am cuz he was ahead of schedule, but at least I was up all ready and ready for him. He did a really good job and I think that he even finally figured out why my thermostat never worked quite right the way that I had it wired since day one when I moved in here (I changed the old one out for a programmable one) as I would have to rewire it for heat or cooling whenever I needed the other ....... but this guy found a loose wire in the box in the garage that I think might have finally solved it - at least it's working perfectly tonight but I won't know for sure until I need to turn the heat on. On another note, I would always see the lights kind of flicker whenever the a.c. kicked on and that's not happening anymore, so I think that there was a short in the wiring somewhere. And the guy was here for almost three hours - and he even made me some permanant air filters that I can just spray off and let dry and then put them back in again. He was Monties best-bud while he was here too.

My biggest project that I accomplished today was to move the entertainment center into my office and out of the middle of the living room, totally worried that I'd scratch my new floor as I was sliding it across. Then I get it to the door but I couldn't spin it around far enough in the hallway to get it in there no matter how hard I tried. I ended up having to take everything out of it and then tipping it up on it's side and was finally able to get it through the door, but I still haven't put all of my stereo back together yet. And the bummer part of it is that the only wall in the room that it looks right on is the one behind my desk, so if I keep it there then I won't be able to see my tv while I'm working on the pc. So I might have to end up moving my desk too but I haven't attempted that quite yet. I also dragged the huge tv box out of my front hall and into the driveway and broke all that down and pitched the styrofoam stuff that came with it. At least if nothing else my house is pretty much back to normal, well not quite but alot closer than it was this morning.

And it was one of those cloudy days that really didn't help to give me any motivation to do anything outside, plus it was at least in the high 80's and humid as heck so even when I was out there for the short while I still sweated my butt off. I did derust my sidewalk cuz the sprinklers hits it and turns it this nasty brown/orange color after a while - but the stuff that I spray on it makes it look brand new without too much effort. Oh, and speaking of the weather I do believe that that cold front is right around the corner as it's suppose to get down to 58' on Tuesday and Wednesday night with the day time temps in the mid-70's ...... that'll be sweet for sure and I can't wait.

And I guess that's about it, ain't squat on tv tonight so I'm struggling to find something to watch. It should be a pretty normal day tomorrow though, between the house cleaning and the laundry and the grocery shopping I'm sure that I'll keep myself busy. Oh, and I pretty much finished up my business plan and e-mailed it into work, so besides a few revisions that I'm are sure to come I can check off that project off in Palm Pilot. Good night, talk with you again sometime soon and try to have a nice and enjoyable kind of Sunday, k :?)

Friday, October 11, 2002

Dang, if I'm not glad that it's Friday finally ....... it was one heck of a week! I still have my 2003 Business Plan to complete this weekend as it's due first thing come Monday morning but I spent a little time on it tonight but I'm still not done. I was also scanning some pictures from weddings on the terrace that I want to do a web page for work on, but now that I've got them scanned it shouldn't take me all that much time to throw the pages together. It was one heck of a day, interuption after interuption and I got squat done actually, but that's all behind me at this point, now ain't it :?)

I think that tomorrow should be a half way decent weather day, one of the better of the weekend so I guess that I'll wait to see. I do think that my lawn can wait another week for a mow-job before it's due but I guess that I'll decide that tomorrow - might wash the truck and maybe even pressure was the front of the house, we'll see how it goes. There is a cold front on it's way - might even be here by the end of the weekend. Not much else to report other than I got my logo'd polo shirts for work finally, think that it's been at least six weeks since I ordered them. At least I did find out that it's ok to make them using the hotel logo if it's for work and that we just can't resell them due to a complication with the copyright issue so I think that I'm ok, guess I'll find out.

And I'm beat, I can't even keep my eyes focused on this thing so that's about it for today - maybe there will be more tomorrow, we'll have to see. Have a GREAT weekend and drop me a note if you can - let me know what you are up to too, k :?) Night - TGIF!

Wednesday, October 09, 2002

For starters, I think that my "small tree" story is making my "Life" page load really slow, but it'll be off the main page after this entry so it'll all be behind us :) And it was a crazy day, but not as crazy as it could have been as I had to postpone my IPIX photo shoot for another week as it was cloudy and hazy and almost foggy out all morning. And wouldn't you know it at just the moment that I cancelled it and rescheduled it for next week the sun came out, but I guess in hind-site we didn't have the blue skies that I was hoping for ....... so it better be nice next Wednesday as I'm not doing this again (setting the ballroom, the outdoor pavillion, pressure washing the main enterance, ect)!

My trainee arrived from Jacksonville and spent the afternoon with me, but that put me so far behind with my Sales Strategy Meeting prep that I didn't leave work until 6pm, then came home and spent a few more hours trying to get ready for it. But I'm in pretty good shape at this point and tomorrow is Thursday, so it should be downhill from here.

Still loving my new tv, but I had sent an e-mail to my Director of Engineering this morning before I left home thanking him for hooking me up, along with one of my pictures that I took standing next to it last night. And if he didn't carry that e-mail and my photo around all day - I swear that everyone and their brother had a chance to see it ....... I see it hitting the next newsletter at this point! I still haven't read the operating manual but will have to one of these days - but have most of it figured out all ready.

That's about it, my house is still a mess and probably will be till the weekend, other than work for every waking hour of my day I haven't been doing much else ..... oh well, only two more days and then it'll be Saturday! Night, I'll talk to you another day - k :?)

Tuesday, October 08, 2002

Today was a good day, my tv arrived at the loading dock about 2pm and I got the ok to blow off Staff Meeting in order to bring it home which I did. Our Engineering Department couldn't do it today and they wanted to do it tomorrow but I have way too much going tomorrow so I talked my cafeteria guy into helping me ....... he owes me since I'm his pc help desk much of the time. I borrowed the hotel pick-up truck and it fit through the front door perfectly - left it in the box until I got home tonight. I had it unpacked in a matter of minutes and hooked up in no time - the thing is even on wheels to make it even easier!

I took a couple of pics with me and my tv, the first one is here, the second one is here and last but not least the last one is here. Just a sampling though and tv's don't actually photograph very well, so I'm sorry about that but it'll kind of give you the size of it. I still need to read the book one of these days as I haven't even attempted at using the remote, but my old one works just wonderfully :)

And tomorrow will be crazy - between the photo shoot and the trainee training, I just hope that I can hold it all together for a few more days ..... but hey - then it'll be the weekend! Oh, and this tv has some great sound, but I ended up ordering the surround sound home theater system and that should be here in 3 days - then it'll rock with 600 watts! I still have this huge box sitting by my front door , guess I need to break it down and move the entertainment center out of the middle of the room and get things back to normal, but I can probably wait until this weekend.

I was just checking in, wanted you to know that the long awaited tube had arrived (actually, I don't think this one has any tubes as it a projection screen) and that's it ....... I'm beat all ready this week. So, on to another day - but not before at least 6 hours of sleep, so I'll talk to you all sometime after that. LATER, night & ta-ta till then.

Monday, October 07, 2002

Dang if it ain't going to be a rough week, realized today that we've got Staff Meeting again tomorrow afternoon along with Forecast Meetng so that always blows a good afternoon - plus I spoke with my boss who's working in Jacksonville who told me that our General Manager wants the business plan wrapped up by Wednesday or Thursday :( I should have seen that one coming as I think that just last night I said that they'd tell me that they wanted it "tomorrow", but didn't actually think that it'd be the day after that! I worked some more on it tonight but still have a ways to go - can't do it at work as there are too many interuptions to get anything done ..... so I'm kind of sweating that one to meet the deadline expected of me.

I've also got that photo shoot on Wednesday and while I asked for volunteers to go around with the photographer some of the time I've had no takers, so I can see me spending the day coordinating that thing. And my trainee arrives sometime around noon on Wednesday too to watch me prep for my Sales Strategy Meeting, and my boss being the guy that he is (happy-go-lucky) is like, well, she can just complete all of your reports while you are dealing with the photo guy (or gal) - NOT! as I've got to show her the reports first. I dunno, it's overwhelming sometimes what I've got to accomplish this week, so I'd just rather not think about it! Plus I can just see my tv arriving on Wednesday afternoon and just when I have a chance to get ready for my meeting I'll have to bring that dang thing home.

On another note besides that, all is going well and it was a stress free day. This week our company as a whole is holding the annual Associate Opinion Survey so it's free lunches all week - yahoo!!! free taco's and stuff :) Talk about bribery though, think that they were a day late and a dollar short to change any of the results. I always come out doing very well with them though with my department, my belief is that if you treat your associates like you want to be treated and give them the tools that they need, they'll take care of you in return - and my people have yet to let me down ....... and any of my people who might be reading this - remember the $300 worth of office supplies that I bought you all today!!!! j/k ...... it really was time to order supplies :) And did I mention that one of the Convention Services Manager's nominated me for Manager of the Quarter and that Human Resources sent me the ballot with her comments? It was very sweet to say the least - I'll have to share it on here some night but will have to remember to bring it home in order to do so. At least I get a free lunch (real banquet food) in a couple of weeks, if I win or not that's really not important to me.

And it's still HOT ...... feels like July with these 95% humidity days but there might be relief in site as there are rumors of low-80' days towards the end of the week. I'm really looking forward to Fall - bring it on but the bummer side of that is going back to standard-time, where it's dark by 5pm :( Oh well, guess we take the good with the bad, or something like that. Crossing Jordan is on so I'm gonna watch that for a while - but hey, thanks for listening and also for coming here and visiting once again. Good nighto, the chicken bone (actually a starch flavored chicken bone thing) chewer over there says to say hello too!

Sunday, October 06, 2002

Pretty uneventful day around here, other than the house is clean and the groceries are shopped, laundry is done and I'm ready for another new week. Dang hot too, another 90+ day but in looking at the 5-Day forecast there might be some relief on the way, lower 80's at least coming towards the end of the week. I really want to do some stuff outside like painting some trip and trimming the hedges and stuff, but it's really too hot right still to do much of anything out there. At least it should be cooling down sometime in the near future.

It should be a pretty busy week coming up too, I've got a photo shoot that I'm coordinating where they are making 7 new IPIX 360' tours and that should take up most of my Wednesday if the weather cooperates. Then we are going to try that training session again with the girl from Jacksonville, she's coming over on Wednesday afternoon also and spending all day Thursday with us so that she can sit in on a Sales Strategy Meeting, it's a day shorter than the last time we scheduled it but maybe this time it might actually happen. I also still haven't gotten very far on my Business Plan for the budget, still not quite sure when it's due but I need to get working on that just in case it's due ...... like tomorrow.

I really don't have all that much to report tonight, hoping my tv makes it here this week and that's about it. I still need to figure out what I'm going to do with the furniture and the arrangement of the living room, but I'm hoping that I can move the set once I get it in here to where I want it to be - instead of it being stuck in the one place they set it when they bring it in. Still haven't done anything with the surround system - but I need to get the tv first and then figure the rest out in another month or so. I guess that's it for tonight, sorry about the nothing-news but some days are like that ....... Boomtown is one now so I'm going to watch that. Night, hope you have a GREAT upcoming week and I'll talk to everyone another day - take care until then. Good night!

oh, and I forgot, but I filled out my absentee ballot for the November elections today and I thought that one of the referendums on it was rather strange ...... but it had to do with animal cruelty and they wanted pigs giving birth to be unrestrained and able to move around freely during such birth - I of course sided with the pig but not sure where that topic came from, didn't know that there was much pig abuse happening in the State of Florida :?) Whatever, as long as the little piggies are happy :)

Saturday, October 05, 2002

Hello and happy Saturday night! Not too much out of the ordinary to report - was still another 90' day and I sweated my butt off mowing and detailing the lawn, but it's looking a little better after I was all done. I am kind of thinking of giving my lawn service the boot as they killed most of my front lawn with the weed killer that they put on it a few weeks ago and now it has a ton of brown, dead grass spots, heck I can do that on my own and save the monthly charge. And my side yard and back yard has come a long way from when I killed that at the beginning of the summer and it's almost looking kind of nice, almost took some pictures of it today to share but then again never did. I'm just thinking that I can kill grass along with the best of them, so I might have to reevaluate whether or not I want to keep them come next year.

I also broke down and took Montie in to the vet for his six month shots, well kind of as I was three months overdue in taking him in but after his boaratello (?) shot and an inspection he's good for another 100,000 miles - well, at least until January when the rest of his shots are due. And he weighed in at 34.1 lbs, I kind of thought that he was heavier than that but that's where he usually is so at least he's not getting any wider. I got my haircut today too, slept in until 9am and then took a short nap this evening - but never actually fell asleep as Montie wouldn't sit still long enough to let me.

I got my Absentee Ballot in the mail today to vote in the November elections, and if that isn't the smartest way to vote then I don't know what is - you just fill in your selections and mail it back and then you don't have to go on Elections Day ...... the next best thing would be to do it over the internet so maybe we'll get to that someday - just not this year. The first year that I voted was for the Presidential Election when Bush got elected, and I swore that all of Florida's problems were due to me casting my vote for the first time, but it was Palm Beach County that had those "chits" all screwed up - so I guess that I'll just keep voting. And I guess that I never really voted my entire life as you have to live somewhere for a while before you figure out the registration thing and all that - and it's hard to believe that I've been living here for going on three years.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention my niece's visit to Panama City Beach. My brother just called to see how her trip went and I think that they had a good time - they spent alot of time at the pool (and hottub) if nothing else, but she only ended up staying the one night (last night) as they had some big Navy Ball to get back to in Pensacola tonight. We did go out to dinner last night and it was kind of nice to see the young lovers in love :) I didn't end up seeing them today, but she called me from there to tell me that they left their bathing suits in the bathroom at the hotel and for me to try and track them down for them.

I guess that's about it for tonight, I'm tired and it's a crappy tv night - watching Men in Black for about the 12th time I think. Tomorrow should be a pretty normal day though, housecleaning and laundry - along with a little grocery shopping too! Night, talk to you again most likely tomorrow night.

Thursday, October 03, 2002

I'm so glad that tomorrow is Friday as I was just thinking about it, and I haven't slept later than 7am in 19 days so it'll be good to at least sleep in a couple extra hours each day this weekend. And I got an update on the arrival of my tv - I guess that I miscalculated things and it won't be here till next Wednesday or Thursday ..... guess that I was only off by a week or so. But it'll be ok, and it will get here when it's good and ready. I'm also still looking at surround sound systems and I'm glad that I took some more time to research them before I bought one as some of the reviews I've been reading is making me think that I might not have been looking at the best one. But there is no rush on that either, other than I wanna see how DVD's play on the tv, but guess that I should get the tv first. And I don't think that I shared the model that I was getting but it's a Philips 55PP9352 55" if you want to check it out. Kind of plain looking but if it's anything like the ones we've got in our bar at work (we've got two 50"s and this one is even better), than I'm sure that I'll be happy with it. And that's the biggest challenge with the surround sound is matching the color as most of the systems come in black - and I want the silver/chrome color to match the tv ....... so I'll keep looking.

And today a year ago my Mom passed away, but actually I didn't even really think about it until I got home today as it was such a hectic day trying to catch up on a bunch of stuff while getting ready for my Sales Strategy Meeting. I should have taken a moment today to remember that moment but I didn't, and now that moment is gone for at least another year. I'm ok though, I accepted it a year ago and all is well with me today. I miss her, and got an e-mail tonight from my brother-in-law saying that he was thinking about her alot this week too ...... said something about she must have been whispering in our ears this week. I also got another e-mail from a friend wishing that she could do something for me to help me through the day, actually I'm kind of glad that I didn't read it until after I got home tonight as I didn't really think about it all day ...... but trust me, I'm fine but thanks for caring :)

I also got a call today out of the blue from my niece, my brothers daughter who is in Pensacola visiting her boyfriend who's in the service and she's the one that had her baby in July. I can't actually believe that she left Gavin at home in NY (with my brother I assume) and came to Florida, but she wants to come over tomorrow night and spend the weekend to get away from the base where she's been staying. Short trip for a long drive - but I hope that I can hook them up so that they can enjoy themselves :) I'm not sure if I'll hook up with them or not, guess that I'll play it by ear.

Everything else is fine, I have alot to do this weekend but glad that it's back to normal and no more tile-guy, plus I've got to get a haircut on Saturday and should take Montie in to the vet, we'll see. I'm going to catch the end of ER so I'm ending this here, but I must say that I do apologize about begging for comments last night, forget I said that and read away! See ya, have a Happy Sappy Friday and I'll talk with you again over the weekend. Good night.

Wednesday, October 02, 2002

Hey All, at least Hump Day is DONE! And not all that much to report tonight but I figured that I owed you a note if nothing more than to keep you up to date. Today at work went fine and I spent most of the day getting ready for my Sales Strategy Meeting tomorrow afternoon - then it's slowly downhill into the weekend. Business is doing pretty well though so it should be an ok meeting, at least I have nothing ugly to report. And another good thing is that Hurricane Lili is going to miss us almost completely, might make for a breezy couple of days for us along with some good surfing (that is, if I were a surfer-dude), but I kind of feel bad for the path where it's headed as they are in for one heck of a storm. It's a Cat 4 all ready I think and that means wind speed of like 130+, so those people are going to get the snot blown out of them along with 15" of rain ..... and this one is DEF different than Isidore last week as it's tiny - the satellite shots have it so defined and compact while Isidore pretty much covered just about all of the Gulf. Tomorrow's the day though, so say a prayer for those in LA & TX, they're going to need it. I don't even think that we'll get any of the wet stuff, might even be a nice day round these parts.

No tv arrvied today but there is always tomorrow, remember good things come to those who wait :) And I ended up having to take the battery out of my riding mower as I haven't used it in a few months so it went dead - so I'll have to take it in to work with me on Friday and use their charger and see how it works after that. Not much else to report, spent the evening looking up prices for office supplies for an order I need to place at work - then shopped for a Philips DVD Home Theater system that I've been eyeing ...... found one $100 lower than any that I was looking at before but haven't ordered it quite yet. I also got a call from a guy from work a little while ago who's having issues with his cd-writer, another one of my hobbies being the Help Desk for anyone that asks. Oh, and I had an e-mail from one of my friends from NY who hasn't been able to access my website for the last couple of weeks - think that she was getting the ole "website cannot be found" error message but I think I finally got it working for her, but I was wondering if anyone else was having that same issue? But scratch that - if you were you wouldn't be reading this, now would you :?) Feel free to leave me a comment anytime you like though, I seldom hear from anyone and I swear that no one even reads this thing. But hey, I think that I do it more for me than anyone else anyways, so "whatever", I'm happy - so you be too :)

And night - it's a new Law & Order so enough of this and on to that - have a great rest of the week. Nighto from Monto, he's over there chewing on this corn-starchy chicken bone thing but looked up long enough to say hey, so "hey" from the Big Boy too. Night!
