A Day (or Two) in the Life of Scott Hanno

Sorry but this is going to have to be another short one or Monto will really dislike me, but we got our '03 budget program today from Corporate so I've been working on that all evening. The hardest part was transfering it from work to home & back again so that I could work on it from here - I locked up my work computer twice and my boss' computer once and had everyone running around restarting them for me! But I am very happy to report that the plan worked like a charm and all of my "pre-work" paid off - I just cut & pasted it from the old program into the new one and I'm just about done. It usually takes me a weekend straight of cranking it out but I've been working on it little by little over the past couple of weeks & I much prefer it this way. And another couple of hours of "tweaking" and fine tuning it and I should be pretty much done.
And it was another crazy day but it went ok, just picked up a "great customer service comment e-mail" that a future guest had sent me and that improved my spirits too. It's kind of one of those things that you do something and send it off and then you figure you won't ever hear back whether it was ok and what they wanted, but it's great to get a couple of sentences back thanking you for your efforts. I also got a note back from my Regional in response to a question I had - and she told us to "GO FOR IT" :) So, life is moving forward and my grass is even starting to green up, once in a while you have a pretty good day and it feels pretty good as it come to an end. Another busy day tomorrow, but I'm getting used to them lately.
Oh, and I'm watching Dateline about the Miners in PA that they recovered - watched the updates all weekend and somehow I didn't think that it was going to have such a positive ending, goes to show you what pooling all of our resources as a nation can accomplish and that a plan can actually work out. I'm glad that they are all fine, didn't figure it would end like that but I'm impressed, definitely! And since I've been on a computer for the last 12 hours I'm going to turn this one off ....... night :o)~

Hello everyone and how did your weekend go :?) It's been mighty hot around these parts, and just walking outside and I'm soaked - gotta be the humidity or something! But once again the lawn is all mowed and the house is clean, groceries are shopped and the laundry is done ...... so that means that it just about time for another week to begin.
I didn't do much out of the ordinary really, went to Burger King Friday night and got their BB Back Porch Griller and for fast food those burgers are yummy! Had chinese last night and then the usual baked potato and ceasar salad from Wendy's tonight so I'm back on schedule again. And it's kind of funny when I call for take out at China Town the guy even knows my name just from my voice and what I order ...... I really need to change my routine once in a while! And Montie got his bacon from the Wendy's Drive Thru tonight, he's such a ham that they see him coming and are waiting at the window for him. And when he doesn't get it he pouts for the next hour, so I'm glad that they hooked him up tonight!
And he really seems to be doing much better with the knee thing after his surgery about a year ago, he's been on these pills every day ever since but I think that they are really doing him some good. He hasn't been able to jump up ever since but more and more lately he can jump up on his back legs and has been playing more too, I think that he thinks he's a puppy again but that might not be so good as that's when he usually gets into trouble.
Spread some more grass seed tonight and have spent a fortune on that dang lawn, still not any greener but I guess that someday it will be. At least the front yard still looks ok and I pulled up a bagful of those viney things, figure that I'll do a little bit at a time and let it have time to grow in before I do more. I've also become the lawn mowing service for the duplex next to me as they don't seem to want to do it - and I figure that my house looks better if theirs looks better so I'll try to keep it up every couple of weeks.
Oh, and on Friday evening my boss called me on my nextel about the same time he called me on Thursday night to say that he really appreciated my efforts in getting me the information that he was asking for first thing Friday morning. I think that it was somewhat of an apology but not in so many words, but the effort alone was enough for me to forgive him. And it seems like I'm all over the place tonight so I think that I'll end this before I go somewhere else! Talk to you soon, have a great start to another new week!
ps ...... I've gotten to Level 8 on the Collapse thing, the bombs really help so let me know if you are able to get any further than that, k?

It's been a grand day and I love my Saturdays - that's about all I'm going to say! But, I did want you to try out my newest game called "Collapse" and the link to it is on my home page (below the bowling link - or click here) - and let me know if you can make it to Level #7! It's easy to play - just click any of the colored boxes when there are three or more touching before they make it to the top, but I don't think that anyone can get past Level #06 - can you? I'll talk to you later, write more tomorrow :)

Dang, I think that today has been worse than any other day this week, when I wrote that it was a rough week thus far it only got worse today! In between trying to get ready for my Sales Strategy Meeting and answering the phone I tried all day to work on the year end forecast that "has to be done tomorrow", but I never did seem to get around to working on it. Then to make matters worse just as I was headed out the door to my Strategy Meeting I get a call that says we can have the meeting but it'll only be me and my boss as everyone is either unavailable or too busy to attend, so all that work for a meeting that I wouldn't even call a meeting.
I tried to come home early to whip out the forecast but didn't, had our Department Meeting for an hour this afternoon but got out on time after that and still planned to come home and work on it. Then I get a call on my nextel from my GM who's meeting with the lawyers again tomorrow and he had asked me for some actuals this afternoon but we weren't quite done with them (#'s from 1994, it's like finding a needle in a mound of paperwork!). Anyhow, he calls and asks me where they are at, I tell him that we are still working on it (I didn't know I had a due date!) and then he says "maybe I didn't make myself clear enough" in that tone of voice I've heard before - the one where it's easier to agree and say "Yes Sir" than anything else - still bothered me after the day I had. So I have to do that first thing in the morning and get it to him by 8am, and after spending 2 hours tonight working on my Year End Forecast I think that that might also be presentable. Like I said, DANG what a day!
The good news is that it's Thursday and there is only one day left in this week, I'm beat and looking forward to getting some sleep! I'm also all set to attend my 20th Reunion, talked to my friends last night and the flight is booked and sent my RSVP back this morning so I think that I'm all set ....... except I haven't asked for the time off from work - really need to work on that! Well, at least we made it through another week so I hope that you have a nice easy Friday and an very enjoyable weekend. Talk to you LATER!

Hello and how's things going, Tuesday is done and it's almost the Hump! Rough week thus far and I'm beat all ready, another busy day but things are slowly starting to quiet down a little bit. My boss got back today and he mentioned that they are expecting to have the Year End Forecast complete by the end of the week, not sure when I am going to get around to doing it but I'll find the time, I'm sure. Things are also slowly coming together in the office - the newest girl has been on the phones since yesterday but I think that she might have a nervous breakdown any day now and my Group Coordinator finally got a pc and is now all hooked and I even got her printer going today instead of having her walk next door to Accounting to pick up each page that she printed.
Kind of weird how that whole computer thing happened too as it showed up Thursday evening and was there Friday morning but wasn't turned on so we figured that it wasn't hooked up yet. Then yesterday afternoon I asked my MIS person when she thought that it might be hooked up and low and behold - it worked on Friday! Not too sure how long we would have stared at a blank computer monitor if we hadn't have asked, go figure huh?
And for the last two evenings I've been blowing off the nap and working in my dirt field that I call a yard, raked for an hour and a half yesterday and got two full bags of dead grass pulled up, then tonight I planted three more trays of plugs and that must make nearly 20 all ready. Pretty soon I'll have the whole yard plugged up, give or take me a year or two. At least things are slowly starting to green up in spots - but the bad news is that it's mostly weeds growing back that is about the only thing that's growing out there. And now that my Chemlawn guys came a few weeks ago I've got a few dead spots in the front yard, starting to rake them up last night and before I knew it I had a big hole of dirt! I really need to stop doing that, but as I was plugging it up tonight this guy walking down the street said something about me battling "sand spurs", so I don't know if that's my newest weed that I'm fighting but it's this viney thing with berrys on it - pull up one and they come up in chunks! At least whatever they sprayed for before is working on killing them slowly, so hopefully the real grass will grow in before it looks too terrible.
Other than that life is good, still need to call my friend in NY and see what's up with the reunion thing as the deadline for signing up for the dinners is this Friday and I'm still not even sure if he's going. I e-mailed a girl that's one of the planners and she wrote back saying that only 18 people have confirmed thus far, and that ain't too many out of the couple of hundred I graduated with. I don't know what is up with it - but I really do need to figure it out in the very near future.
Ok, that's it for another day - hope your's is going the same. I'll write more another day, so check back then! Good nighto from the Scotto and the Monto says hey :?)

Dang, it's been nearly a week since I've written if I haven't written since last Wednesday ...... sorry about that and seems like it was only yesterday! Busy, busy and had Sales Strategy on Thursday so I busted my butt getting ready for it and then I'm not sure where Friday went but I was behind all day, time sure does fly when you are having fun! Not too eventful of a weekend though, too hot to go outside if I could avoid it but did get the lawn all done yesterday again ........sweated my butt of again too.
Oh, and if you haven't noticed I changed a few things on my web site today and spent more time than I should have probably as I was behind in my house cleaning chores, just finished up vacumning my study just moments ago. But I found that black background as I was surfing today and really liked it, plus I added the thing at the bottom to tell when the last update occurred and got that from my high school web site, it's a java script thing that works automatically. I also added a new "comments" section to "My Daily Life" if anyone ever wants to post a message of there own, it's a test right now and I'll see how it works out.
Oh, and Montie and I got our hair cut yesterday so we're both sporting new "doos", I told my stylist that I wanted to try a #1 clipper versus a #02 and she looked at me like I was crazy, then we compromised and she did most of it with the 2 and the bottom with a 1, so it's shorter now than it's ever been but I kind of like it (I don't even have to comb it, just let it dry el-natural :o). I am kind of glad that she didn't go with my suggestion, as I like this cut much more than no hair at all. And we're both set for another month, poor Montie took one look when we got to the groomer and wouldn't get out of the truck.
Well, all is well and things are normal, should be another ok week as not too much is happening, other than my boss is back on Tuesday and we're going to have to crank out the Year End Forecast, but at this point the month will be under way by the time we get around to completing it. Oh well, what else is new, ya know :?) Night, talk to you again later and remember - if you wanna leave a comment or two feel free to - the link is above! LATER!
and ps - since I just updated my comments I noticed that my link was gone to comment on my comments so I'll have to look at it later - you didn't have anything interesting to say anyways, did ya :?)

The word of the day (or words) was ....... "I need ___" as that was just about the way every phone call that I took today started and seems like I got nothing done that I had planned on doing. And it was suppose to be my Sales Strategy Prep Day but I didn't get very far but I'm kind of betting that it won't happen tomorrow anyways as just about everyone is out so it'll either be postponed to Friday or it'll just be another "hand out the packets and we'll review it on our own" type meetings, and actually I'd rather opt for option #02! I think that I could be ready to go tomorrow if push comes to shove and will probably prep in the morning like it is going to happen - at least until I hear differently.
I then came home tonight and entered the groups on the books for '03 which only took about an hour or so, 15,000 rooms on the books but we're gonna need another 20k or so to fly so it'll be in the to-be's. I'm not really looking forward to that process again, seems like it was only yesterday that I did last year's but I've pretty much got it down to a science so once I sit down and do it it should all come together soon enough.
And it's HOT, was near 100' today and is still at least 90' out now at 9:30pm, hard to believe that it can be that warm once the sun goes down. Something's up but I hope that it doesn't last all to long - as I've got a lawn to mow this weekend. And I'm beat, tried to find time to take a nap this evening but that didn't really happen, oh well maybe I'll try it again tomorrow evening. And that's about it, nothing much out of the ordinary happening these days but business is booming ...... so I'll close for now. Oh, I did talk to my brother last night and he got home last Thursday, and in listening to his description of his wounds things are pretty ugly but guess that he's recooping ok. His daughter is also expecting her first kid any day now too - all that I can think of is how interesting it must be to live in that house these days, they even made the 16 y/o son move his room down into the basement (which he's thrilled about, the easier to sneak out every night!) so they could set up a nursery. And I guess that I actually do live a pretty boring life - at least it's planned to they way I like it!!! Ok, good night and join me in counting the days till it'll be Friday evening again :) LATER!

I'm thinking that it might be a good week this week - busy as all heck but the time should fly right by! And 1/2 of my Executive Committee is either out on vacation, in meetings with the attorneys or doing task force so there is really no one around to even ask for anything - was even told that the Year End Forecast that's normally due this week won't even have to be looked at until next week. I also got most of my FIT Wholesale contracts put to bed for 2003 and that's one "to-do" that's been in my Palm for quite a while now, and after some negotiating we've pretty much finalized just about all of them. I even starting to work on my 2003 budget and am going to do it and not tell anyone for a while, that is until after I've got it all complete and everyone is sweating meeting the deadlines put before us - and then I'll pull it out and say, oh I've all ready done that :) And for me it beats getting stuck trying to do it all in a weekend when they tell me that they are ready for it!
And it's HOT, still in the mid 80's right now and there is this warm breeze coming in from the North, usually it's blowing from the South off of the Gulf so something is definitely brewing with the weather. Not much else though, finally got my new Blogger template working as I was missing one picture file in the top left corner but figured it out tonight - and now I'm starting to like the new colors ....... at least for a couple of months and then I'll have to change it again. I was reading tonight about the program and I can actually sign up others to add their own comments, still pondering if I'd like that or not.
Well, Happy Tuesday to ya - stay kewl and don't be square, and I'll talk to you again when I talk to you then!!! Night.

Well, at least if nothing else things are back on schedule and life should return to normal again. Been dragging again all day today and woke up late, and have been behind my chore schedule all day trying to get caught up on work that didn't get done last week. But at least the house is clean, the groceries are shopped, the laundry is fluffed and folded and I'm almost caught up on everything that I was behind on with work. Still tired right now, but it's back to a new week in the morning. I was going to take a nap this evening but never got around to it, went out and planted some more grass plugs and spread some grass seed - still working on trying to do something with my dirt field.
And it rained this morning for about five minutes, a crack of thunder shook the house about 6am and the power went out, came right back on but freaked Montie out and he had to run and hide under the covers. Looked like rain again this evening but then we never saw any - just hot, hot & more hot weather. My PM job on Thursday and Friday night driving the shuttle for the Bill Fish Invitational went well and I'm glad that it's behind me, made about $30 each night in tips and had a little fun with it. I also learned alot about the the tornament or I made it up in talking to people, even had a few regulars that will remember me I'm sure. I almost went back last night on a pleasure trip this time, had dinner with a few people from work and headed that way - but it would have taken an hour to get in fighting the traffic along the way and that was all I wanted to go for, so I turned around and came home.
Well, it's another new week so bring it on - and we'll see what the new week brings but my boss is out of town all week ...... he's task forcing as a General Manager at the Jax Marriott, as strange as that seems we've been told he's coming back. Should make for a quite week all the same, we'll see how it goes. Talk to you later - have a GREAT week yourself!

Crazy day - SSM Prep Day and all, plus I was forced to attend a luncheon where I was nominated for Mgr of the Qtr which of course I didn't get but the food was ok - better than the Salisbury Steak (hamburger w/gravy) that they were selling in the cafeteria! And everyone is in a bad/stressed out kind of mood which doesn't make for much fun - and the fun is only just begun! Tonight was the first night of the Bill Fish Tournament and I'm working the PM shift on Thursday and Friday night, all while working my daytime shift which will probably wear me out totally come Saturday morning. But it'll be over soon enough and I just need to make the best of it - at least I'm only driving a shuttle cart around for 6 hours both nights and then it'll be history.
Called to check on my brother again tonight and spoke to his wife, he's still in the hospital until at least tomorrow or Friday, guess it's not an easy recovery that he's going through. They took away his morphine button yesterday and put him on something else which I guess that he's really not happy about - talking to him on Sunday night he was really seeming to enjoy it. Guess that he'll be out of work for up to six weeks, hopefully everything will be ok with him and the family.
That's it, just dropping in and it's downhill from there ....... although it's going to be a long hill it'll be here sooner or later. So, make it a great day - might be a few days before I write again but I'll be back, talk to you then :)

Oh happy days and my new 515 Palm Pilot has arrived! I almost sent it back though, even called and got a RMA return number as it was too much like my old 5x to even spend the money on, but the more I played with it the more I liked it - so it's a keeper for sure! The thing that I disliked the most is that they build the thing so that it is totally un-upgradable from the prior version, my old cover doesn't fit cuz the slot is too small and my extra cable connectors that I use at home won't work either as there is a new type of connection ........ I told the guy at the Help Desk of my displeasure and he apologized, but said that they didn't ask him when they were designing the thing. He told me to write to the main office and voice my opinion ...... like that's really gonna matter!
But I've finally got it up and running and to my satisfaction, and also deleted all of my contacts and tasks off of my old one so I'm ready to turn it over to it's new owner tomorrow. I think that it's a great deal with what I'm offering, and anyone in there right mind would see that - still pretty sure that my GM is gonna buy it once he explains it to his wife (who bought his current one for xmas six months ago). That's about it though, all is ok with the rest of the world even though it's busy as heck at least the week should fly right by. Oh, and it rained again this afternoon and again just a short time ago, still no word on my lawn people but figure any day now, not that they can help me with the grass that ails me :| So, ta-ta for now, have a happy-go-luck week!

Sunday night here, and a rainy evening it was at that! Thundered and lightninged for a few hours earlier and had poor ole Montie freaking out - enough so that he was either under my feet or jumping up trying to get on my lap ...... what a baby!!! But it was a nice steady rain for at least an hour and then it sprinkled for a few hours after that, I even went out and planted a few more grass plugs while it was drizzling - and Montie is still drying off at this point. I've got five more trays to plant with 18 plugs each - so I figure if I do at least one per day next week I'll get them all in but the sooner the better to get them on their growing way. Things out there are improving slowly, and who knows I might even have a better lawn after this is all said and done. The Chemlawn guys still need to come and start their treament, the first one is a booster and I can certainly use that and I'm figuring that they should be here early in the week since they never made it last week.
Pretty much a normal day around here other than that, the house is cleaned and the laundry is done - the groceries are shopped and the bills are all paid. Life is in order and it's almost time to start the new week - and it should be an interesting week at that. You see, it's another one of those "All Managers On Deck" events next weekend and we all have to work the Bill Fish Fishing Tournament on Thursday and Friday night. At least I just have to drive the shuttle so I can have a little fun with it and get away without talking to too many people - at least I can check out all of the action as it occurs. I'm just not too sure how I'm going to fit it into my schedule, working 8pm - 2am kind of puts a kink in things.
Oh, and I just talked to my brother who's in the hospital - had a message from his wife on Friday that he was admitted into the hospital on Wednesday with a ruptured appendex (?) and they operated immediately. I talked to him on Friday night but I think that he was pretty drugged up but he thought that he'd be home today but nope, he's still there and guess that he's enjoying his morphine button quite a bit. He said that he had a tube down his throat to help drain his stomach, still has no bowel functions and is jundace (?), so I'm really not sure how bad off he really is. I guess that if he would have gone in on Tuesday when he was feeling pain and they would have caught it before it popped he would have been much better off - so remind me to have those type pains checked out before it's too late!
Well, guess that's it for another day - tomorrow is Palm Pilot deliver day!!! I'm still working on finding a buyer for my current model and think that I can talk my GM into buying it as he's got the jr. model that his wife bought him for xmas. If he's not interested, I'm confident that I'll find someone with no problem - even if I have to sell it on E-Bay but don't think that it'll come to that. So, bye for now, have a GREAT Monday and just think - Labor Day is only eight weeks away :o)~

Saturday night and I'm kicking back, got the lawn mowed and the planters deweeded and even found the time to wash my truck tonight! Hot too, 94' at least and I sweated my butt off and I was filthy by the time I was done with things. I even mowed my dirt today and I think that things might come back sooner or later as there are hints of greener things growing so ever so slowly. You can even see the exact line where I sprayed my crab killer as it's outlined between green grass and dirt - kind of weird that it killed everything.
I also finally found out who put the two miny american flags on each side of my driveway on the 4th, couldn't figure it out for the life of me and they just appeared there - but I liked the looks so I left them. But as I was mowing the lawn I had to pull them up temporarily and there was a note that they were compliments of my realtor from two years ago - I thought that was awefully nice of him to do that. I also left them out there cuz they look pretty good too.
Not much else going on, did a little bit of work tonight and have some more to do in the morning but it shouldn't be all too bad. And I'm brain-dead tonight and need to just kick back for a while and then head off to bed so I'm going to run for now. I'll talk to you all soon, enjoy your Sunday!

It's 4th of July Eve here and the holiday is pretty much winding down at this point, can still see and hear some of the fireworks going off down on the beach but they should probably be wrapping up pretty quick too. At least Montie doesn't seem to be too affected by the booms as they aren't all that loud - at least no one is shooting any off very close so he's not bothered by them ..... which is a good thing cuz he really hates them (that and thunder - what can I say, he's a little baby!). Pretty uneventful day on my end, slept late as it's been a rough week and seemed like I had worked five days but was only three but as crazy as they were it might has well have been a full week.
I got up and ended up deciding to paint the baseboards in the hallway and then chaulk it up once it dried so at least I"m done with that project and it turned out pretty decent - still not an expert with the chaulking gun but getting a little better each time I do it. I also went out and raked up another bagful of dead grass from my desert that I call my side yard and it's still not looking any better yet. My neighbor from across the street came over and said that he thought that it must be bugs eating it up until I told him about my crab grass killer incident - then he pointed out the crab grass that was still growing and said that it didn't work very well. And now that I know what the stuff looks like, that wasn't even what I thought was what I was trying to kill in the first place so I'm not even sure what was growning out there that I thought was crab grass in the first place :( I give up though, I'm just going to mow it and leave it alone from now on - it's safer that way so I just hope that it someday grows back.
I also had to do a bunch of work this evening that I finally got around to doing it as my GM still wants to do Sales Strategy Meeting first thing in the morning so I'm shooting to be ready for it at 10am. Wednesday was so crazy that I only got about half of it ready so I had to finish it up from home and now I'm pretty much ready to hit the copier with it. I dunno but he wasn't his usual self the other day and wasn't into kidding around and I didn't have a real good day in the first place so that kind of set me off wrong. But why am I thinking about that - that was two days ago and tomorrow is a new day - so I should just make a fresh start with it and make the best of it!
I was also in the mood to spend some money today so I was surfing the web for a flat screen monitor but never found one that interested me, but did end up buying a new Palm Pilot - the 515 version which is the color model and should be here on Monday. I love my current one but the only thing that I don't like about it is that it's kind of hard to read some time so I'm hoping that the new one is more easier to read. I'm also figuring that I can find someone at work easy enough to buy my old one for $150 and then it'll only be an extra $150 for the new one so that's not too bad. Looking forward to getting it though as it's got lots of new features so it'll be fun to play with!
Oh, and tv sucks tonight being a holiday and all with the Macy's special and all cancelling out my ER, but I found a Steven Segal movie to watch so I'm going to kick back and watch that for the next 45 minutes. So, for the few of us that have to work in the morning I hope that you have a short day - and the others that have it off I really hope that you enjoy yourself. Talk to you again sometime soon.

Not too bad a day being a Monday and all, got tons accomplished and checked off my to-do list and ready for another one come tomorrow. Still not sure what I'm going to do about Sales Strategy Meeting this week as normally it's on Thursday - but I'll be chillin' at home come that day and I don't think there is any way that I can be ready by Wednesday - so maybe it'll be on Friday but I really don't like when that happens. I also had my new trainee and my new Group Coordinator start today, think that it's def gonna take some time for everyone to settle into their new place in the world and for all of the personalities to gel, but I figure that it shouldn't take too long ....... at least I hope not as I'm not too sure how many days like today I can handle!
And my new next door neighbors moved in today, at least one of them from what I could tell from the moving truck out front when I got home. Looks like they've got little kids too from the tiny little bikes that are out front, hoping it's only like one little rug-rat as they've only got two bedrooms but guess that it'll bring a new feel to the hood. I'm sure that Montie will get to know them soon enough as he's always wondering around over there, think that he's toured the houses more than anyone - he just loves to explore new things. Oh, they got the power hooked up today over there so I guess that it wasn't that big of a task - and looks like they are just about all complete (except for the rest of my fence, might have to ask someone about that!).
My lawn is still looking like crap and guess that it would have been easier if I would have only attacked one section at a time instead of doing such a large area, but I'll just keep telling myself that it's going to look beautiful in another month and I'll be glad that I did what I did - and I actually believe that it will. Still waiting for the Chemlawn people to show up, they couldn't gtd that it would be this week as they are only working three days (must be nice, huh :?) so if not this week it'll be the beginning of next week. I guess that they plan on doing some booster thing first and then six other treatments for the rest of the season, and he told me that it would probably take at least three before I'd even start to see a difference. But I'm now glad that I decided to go with them as I've spent way to much time and energy to let it be taken over by the weeds - again, dream the green grasses and it will come. I guess that's another thing that I enjoy about plants & growing stuff - if you put the effort in it looks GREAT (well, sooner or later!!).
I finally got my invitation for my 20th high school reunion and think that it's the weekend of August 16th so that's only about six weeks away so I need to go and shop for an airline ticket back to NY so I must go now, hoping that you'll understand :) Happy Tuesday - and counting the days till the 4th of July Eve!!! Night :)
