A Day (or Two) in the Life of Scott Hanno

Dang, I'm sure glad that it's finally Friday as this week was way too rough, worked till nearly 6pm tonight but I survived and hope that you did too ...... and now the weekend is upon us so I hope that we all have a great one! We finally got the flight booked for our group coordinator from Norfolk to go visit Greenville, had to plan it out a few weeks in advance but that's done, now just have to plan on what stuff needs to be covered. Sales Strategy Meeting was fine but was quite the push to get it all ready by 10am but for some reason I really feel out of the loop on some of the stuff that we talked about - but it's way to late to go into that.
Came home tonight and washed the truck and it's looking very nice again, it'd been two weeks so it was overdue all ready. But I think that'll be the last time that I use the stuff that I sprayed on the tires as it made my rims a mess, couldn't get some of it off no matter what I tried. Still not too sure what the weekend holds yet but it's a hair styling kind of day tomorrow for the Monto, and the lawn for me. I've still been trying to finish washing the front of the house for like the last three weeks too, plan on doing just about every weekend but I never quite make it, but one of these days I will get to it. Suppose to be a nice weekend anyhow, if you call sunny and 90' nice that's what they are saying we'll see.
And I'm beat and can't even think straight at this point, spent 30 minutes or so earlier signing my name to 150 letters that we need to send out on Monday ...... oh joy! I was just feeling the need to jot something down, not that what I wrote means anything so I'll end it here and say good night. Oh, but one of my girls from work brought me this cloth bag thing filled with cow-corn that you put in the microwave for 2 minutes and is suppose to help my back feel better ..... tried that tonight and is like an old fashioned heating pad, but actually I think that it might have made my neck feel a little better - as weird as that is to say. Ok - good night, have a great weekend and I'll talk to you again - soon!

Golly jeez, I'm not so sure that I like these 4 day work weeks as while it was nice having Monday off and all, but cramming five days into four the rest of the week is a little too much! And I've been trying to get ready for my Sales Strategy Meeting since yesterday morning, and got zip done today and my meeting is at 10am in the morning, so I'll have to crank out the remaining reports first thing in the morning and then make my copies ...... and wing it from there. Not sure where the time went today but had a meeting with MVCI which was more of a site visit this afternoon and then a department meeting, so from 2:30 on the day was gone. My MIS girl also gave me Office 2000 to install as I've been begging to read more than the hyperlinks in the e-mail brochures that we get all of the time so that took me some time, but it's all working fine now. If nothing else, I've now got what I've got at home and can see all of the pictures in the e-mails instead of all of the links, and when you think of it Office 97 is all ready 5 or more years old, and alot of things have changed since then.
It also clouded up about 2pm and was black out and we all thought that a storm was gonna downpour on us so I had to blow off our plans to visit the beach for our meeting, but then it never did do more than sprinkle but it sure did look mean out there. But at least it'll give us a little more time to plan something more fun one of these days, they've offered to take us out on a boat and have our meeting there, which I think that the girls would appreciate more anyways. And for some reason I've been all wore out this week, overslept this morning by 10 minutes and Montie sucks as an alarm clock, but at least I've got my backup alarm in the other room and when that goes off it makes me jump out of bed ....... but it's been one of those weeks - guess it's the working each evening that gets to me after a while.
Otherwise, not too much else to report other than I'm really glad that tomorrow is Friday and it'll be the weekend again! The lawn is starting to fill in the brown spots so I think that last weekends efforts are going to pay off - I'll see what it looks like after I mow it this weekend and might throw on some more "turf builder" if it looks like it could use it. I might also try the dethatcher again in some of the areas that still need help, but then I'll just mow over it to mulch up the stuff instead of raking it again - I don't plan on doing that for a long while again (like maybe this Fall?). I also started to run the sprinklers again for a short while in the afternoon although I can't believe that it needs that much water - but it has been really dry around here and seems to be helping the dry spots too.
So, lets all hope that everyone has a GREAT Friday and that it flies right by - and it'll be Friday night before we know it. Oh, and I almost got my carpenter to come over today to install my side door on my garage, but he had an emergency come up so it'll have to be another day ....... waiting & waiting, that's fine by me :) C-ya LATER, talk to you soon :o)~

Back at work today and was there quite the pile awaiting me ....... spent all day trying to clear out my pile of work that has been building up over the last four days! Not too bad a day though, it flew right by but some part of me kept thinking it was Monday and I should be on Monday's schedule - but nope, it's Tuesday all ready!!! Still trying to get some help for Greenville, SC but we've gotten no where - the cheapest flight that we can find is like $800 bucks and don't really have any other suggestions for them so it looks like if they want the help they have no choice ...... but still no game plan as of yet.
Oh, and I got home and had two packages waiting for me at my doorstep, Pam the nut from Virginia overnighted me a box of nuts ....... did I mention that she was also a NUT :?) But she heard that Montie and I go through a can of cashews once a week and guess that the Planters plant (HA!) is near her so she had to send me some of their finest cashews ...... and fine they are!!!! But we've got enough of them to be eating them for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next month ....... if I ate breakfast or lunch (at home anyways), so I guess we've got a couple of months worth. Pam, you know you didn't have to do that - but in some strange way I'll take it as a sincere token of your appreciation ..... for what I'll never know :) And the other box was my Nikes and they fit WAY better and are even comfy ...... they're a keeper for sure and I'm amazed at what a little .5 inch will do. And I'm so lame that I wanted to share them with you so that you can join me in my excitement ....... click Nike to catch a glimpse of them on my foot (I said that I was lame, didn't I :>?) Nice huh, and remember - good things come to those who wait!
I talked to my bro-in-law for a while tonight too, been a while and probably since xmas and they are all doing fine and I turned him on to scott.com, and he zoomed right in to my comment about my niece getting a letter from the attorney about the house sale, still not sure how he picked up on it so quickly while he was talking to me ....... and hehehe, remind not to say anything to bad about him either!!! (j/k John, I'd never!). Megan did her first road-trip this weekend, ahhh the thrill of being 17 again :) Still no word from my brother though, wondering how long I should wait before I call him again.
And I guess that's it for today - there's always tomorrow so be sure to check back then ...... life is grand huh, and be majorly HAPPY till then! Nighto from the Scotto :o)~

It's Sunday night again ...... well, it's Monday night and just feels like a Sunday - having a hard time getting back into the swing of things, that's for sure. But the ironing is done for tomorrow's "outfit", so that kind of got me back on the normal work schedule. I'm kind of looking forward to getting back too, worked my butt off all day but got most of what I wanted to accomplished. I finished my "dethatching project" too, nine huge lawn bags full of hay - I should have bailed the stuff! I must spent four hours doing the backyard, actually I can't believe that I got it all done but my left hand is paying the price and have a blister on each of my little fingers :( And now that I've fluffed the lawn all up you can't even tell that I just mowed it two days ago - it's almost ready for another go around.
Oh, and Montie came in this evening when I was all done and he was limping and not walking on his right hind-foot, thought that maybe he screwed up his knee again but didn't know how he did it but it didn't take much the last time for him to screw it all up. I then realized that he had burdocks in his ear and then felt around in his paw and sure enough, he had one stuck right in the middle of his foot. So, I had to hold him down as he wouldn't let me touch it and got it out ...... and after that he kissed me and kissed me and walked just fine ...... reminded me of that really old story about David & Gailiath (?) or one of those stories anyways. But he's fine, no worse for the wear either :)
It was actually a pretty uneventful Memorial Day, went to Walmart for groceries and the place was packed as usual, seems like there are still alot of people around who I guess are planning on spending the week. I also hope that one of my Sales Managers isn't mad at me for giving her a hard time about working a 1/2 day on Friday as I was only kidding her, and she should be used to it by now but I think that her being prego kind of clouded her mind ...... TL, you know that I love ya!!!
And it's back to work in the morning, should have a carpenter here either tomorrow or Thursday to install the new side door to my garage - it's been sitting in my garage for about two weeks now so I hope that he can find the time for me this week. My sneaks should be here tomorrow too - hopefully they'll fit this time and I can keep them! And that's about it for another day, hope that you're ready to get back to work and I'm sure that we've all got lots to do - but the good news is that we've only got four days to go this week! Talk to ya later, Mr. & Mrs. Potater :o)

You know, the best thing about having tomorrow off is that there is no ironing to do tonight ....... I'm free! And it was another hot day, did the ole dethatching thing on the other side of the house and a small portion of the back and I'm all ready up to five bags of thatch, I can't believe all of the stuff that is in that lawn. But after raking for an hour or so I had to give up, the 90' temps were one thing, but the blister on my hand was what was really starting to bother me. Might try to do some more tomorrow but I'll have to see, but hope to have it all done in another week or so.
And I did half of my chores today, the laundry and the mopping and cleaned the bathrooms, so all that leaves for tomorrow is to dust, run the vacumn cleaner and go and get groceries. It's kind of nice being able to break it up into two days what I normally have to do in one - another plus to having Monday's off! Work did pretty well I guess and seems like I talked to them all weekend long, one of the drawbacks of owning a Nextel but at least I can stay in touch :) They went down with three rooms last night and opened this morning with 7 rooms to sell - then called me this afternoont to tell me that they were 2 over and had me put an MS2 on - did much better than I had thought, figured that everyone would have bailed out.
I also had a message from my brother in law but I didn't call him back yet, but he told me that they got a letter from the lawyer that the house sale went through and was a done deal ...... not sure why he gets letters and I hear nothing, maybe it has to do with my niece being only 17 years old or something, she's my sister's daughter who my Mom also listed in her will. I still haven't called my brother yet to find out the specifics, and it kind of ticks me off that he can't call me once in while when he has something new to tell me. Someday I'm sure that I'll call him, if I want to know anything I guess that I don't have much of a choice.
Not too much else to say tonight, looking forward to having another day off and I'm sure that Montie will be just as happy - not too sure what my plans are at this point but guess that I'll find out soon enough. So, good night for now - and I'll talk to you again sometime soon.

Well, it's Saturday night again but this weekend's not over - cuz it's a three day weekend and Monday is Memorial Day!!! But today was pretty much the normal day, got the lawn all mowed and detailed and then went and got my haircut. Montie was suppose to have had his done today too (we schedule our doo's for the same day), but they couldn't fit him in due to the holiday rush so his time will come next weekend :) I also installed a flag pole holder on my front column by the front door and plan to finally hang a flag on Monday. I've always had a flag but when I moved here I never had a holder, and when the September 11th thing happened I looked and looked for one, think that it was finally December before I bought one but then never got around to putting it up ...... but it's up now so the flag will be flying!
I also finally got my black Ford blue-oval license plate for the front of my truck, ordered it right after I got my truck as I knew exactly what I wanted ....... had a white backside of the dealer plate on it before but that was only a temporary thing and you have to have something or it looks too empty. I found the perfect one on line but wasn't quite sure if I wanted the black one or the chrome one, but I'm mucho glad that I went with the black one - it looks great! But when I ordered it, it got backordered and I was getting a little ticked that it was taking them so long ...... but then I remembered the "good things come to those who wait" and waited - and finally got exactly what I wanted :)
Oh, and my big project of the day was that I went to Home Depot this evening and bought a Dethatcher, this thing on two wheels that hooks up to the back of my riding lawn mower and drags pins through the grass kind of like a rake. I decided after last night when I was out there raking again that it just wasn't cutting it, and then my next door neighbor told me I needed to dethatch it (thatch - the dead grass that lives under the grass and prevents it from growing). He was going to let me use his but it was at his office (he's a landscaper - actually he sells palm trees) but then I never saw him today so I went and bought my own. I used it tonight and I can't believe all the crap that it brought to the surface, still had to rake all of the grass up but had three garbage bags full within one hour - and only got to the front and one side of the house. Compared to my little raking that I've been doing - it's taken me two weeks and I still hadn't had one bag full yet. All in all I think that it's gonna make a major difference, but still have one side and the entire back yard to do (my weekend project!).
Other than that work went fine yesterday but it was still pretty crazy and worked a full day even though most of the Sales Office was out by 1pm ...... sold out tonight from the sounds of things (7 arrivals left and zero to sell, so it should be pretty darn close to a perfect sell out!). And tonight was the first night of our "Dive In Movies" where they show a movie on a big screen at the pool after dark - and I guess that things were packed and a whopping success ....... I'm glad that worked out so well - and think that tonights movie was "Dogs & Cats" whatever that movie is about.
And I'm whipped tonight, got up at 7:30 cuz Montie was sitting in the bathtub begging for a drink, then after I got him a drink I had to let him out to do his thing - then figured it'd be just as best to stay up ..... and my day went on from there. I need a shower to wash a pound or two of dirt off, and actually the hot water actually makes my neck feel better too ...... still need to find a massouse (?). So, more later I'm sure, enjoy your weekend and I'll talk to you on another day - take care till then!!!

Another crazy day today, but my Sales Strategy Meeting went well so after that was out of the way it was downhill into the weekend all ready! And even though I had about 12 voice mails and 10 e-mails to return after the meeting, I took it in stride but thought that my Supervisor was going to have a nervous breakdown by the time I got back, the phone volume has been wild the last couple of days (reminds me of Spring Break, at least it's just a weekend!). Tomorrow should be a much better day, I'm sure most of the big people are taking the day off going into the holiday weekend and while I have alot to do, it should be a normal but quieter day ...... and if I have my way I'll be on my way home by 3pm :o)
I ordered flowers for my Mom's grave today that will be delivered tomorrow, couldn't even tell the lady where she was buried other than "it's about 1/2 way down on the right, about a 1/4 of the way off the road" so I hope that she is able to find it - and was going to call the caretaker to see if he could help. I guess that's one of the plus' of dealing with a small town, everyone knows everyone else so I'm sure that they'll find it. I dunno, but somehow it didn't make me feel all that great as I don't know what they were going to send or even if they were going to send anything, but as someone told me tonight my Mom knows what I did, and in the end that is all that really matters. My Mom was very active in the Legion and I know that they do a big deal at the cemetary for all of the veterans on Memorial Day each year, so at least she'll have something to show off to everyone and I hope that it looks great! I guess that I do feel better about it tonight than after after I made the call to order the flowers, so I think that it might be an annual tradition. And I still haven't heard if the house closing deal went through and told my brother to let me know, but of course I won't know anything until I call him to find out.
The weather has been great and is suppose to be nice all weekend, warming up from here but I wish that it'd stay in the high 70's and not get any warmer than that ...... but it'll be 90' again before we know it. I hope that everyone has a great Memorial Day holiday, I'll be in touch and make it a safe one, it's going to be crazy around this town that's for sure! Night for now, talk more later.

I got my new Nikes in the mail today, and for the first time since I've ordered sneakers on-line they didn't fit, and I've always worn an 11.5 but guess these are built differently :( I wore them all evening thinking that maybe I could stretch them out, but finally gave up and called and ordered another pair and am going to return these ....... at least they make it pretty easy on you! I love them, but they are just too snug for me to wear, and they guy on the phone said that they should fit comfortably right out of the box - which these certainly did not! But with Monday being a holiday - it'll be Tuesday before I see anything at my doorstep - oh well, good things come to those who wait :)
And my neck is feeling a little better, been off and on all day but is still there but didn't do any Advil so I guess that I'm doing ok. I'm also still trying to figure out what my boss' assistant meant when she called me this afternoon to ask me if my ears were burning, said that she attended the GM's round table and my GM went on and on about me, not sure what was said or why I was even the topic of discussion as none of my peeps even attended the lunch - so maybe I'll find out more tomorrow. I might have also turned another one of my work associates on to doing a website, she works in accounting and rents condo's that she owns - told her to check out my truck on my website and she sounded a little interested in renting her properties via the web ...... so I might have another side project to work on if I want it.
It was also a crazy day today so I got squat done at work, brought stuff home and working on getting ready for my Sales Strategy Meeting tonight, even with that I'm still a few hours behind where I usually am at this point. So, if I have to hide out for an hour or so to analyze my data before the meeting, so be it but the show must go on! After my 2pm meeting though it should be down hill into the weekend, no other real deadlines to meet this week (that I know of yet!). I'm still working with Greenville on a daily basis, and I kind of suggested that I might go up there for a week to spend time with them and now it sounds like it's a done deal to them, and I haven't even asked if I can go nor am I sure that I want to, but I've got some time to decide before deciding anything.
And Pam, thanks for the tree idea but I planted two sycamores last year that are doing wonders in the baby stages of growing into adult trees, and another friend of mine suggested that I should send an arrangement of flowers to my Mom's grave for Mom's Day, but he told me that about two weeks after the fact ...... but it was a very good idea and something that I hadn't even thought of so I will do it for Memorial Day, I'm sure that my brother won't and not sure if anyone else will - so bottom line is I will remember her. Thanks for the nudge though, hadn't even decided I'd do it yet until I just wrote this and thought about what you (Pam) said, and I'll do that tomorrow for sure.
So, thanks again for listening and for coming along with me, and as someone keeps reminding me what I wrote a few weeks ago - "remember to smile, it's contagious!" :o)~ I'll talk to you later - have another great day tomorrow!

When I was dogging the toads the other day, I never said that I didn't care for the little guys, and when I went to check to make sure my garage door was closed I saw a toad running across the room, saw him (her?) living under the lawn mower on Saturday but thought that he had probably moved outside. But no, he was still living in the garage and after four days I thought that he must really be hungry, so I caught him in a towel and carried him outside ...... and then he hopped off to greener pastures & bugs galour I hope :) That reminds me, there is now a family of toads living under my front sidewalk, all of the kids came out when I mowed the lawn the other day and must be like five of them living under there, and guess they aren't too bad ...... we should all just learn to get along, right :?)
And I talked to my brother in Syracuse last night, said that it snows (or sleeted) yesterday and was in the 30's so I guess that when it's cool here it's COLD there, I'll take the 70's any day. But he told me that the house closing was still a go for tomorrow as far as he knew, doesn't sound like he knows too much about what's going on but all that I can say is that he's trying. He also told me that the real estate lady left the prospective owners alone in the house and they took it upon themselves to tear up the carpet in the dining room and left it like that - to say the least my brother was a little ticked off that they would do that. I guess that they were interested to see that there was hardwood floors underneath the carpeting, of which none of us knew that it was there but it might look neat if it was all restored ...... can't imagine what the place would look like with wood floors though. But they'd better as heck be ready to buy the place, and we figure that they'll want to close before the long weekend, so I would assume that the deal will go through.
Works has been as busy as always, taking on Greenville has become almost a full time job and I'm spending alot more than my allotted hour per day, that's for sure. I did get the DOM's log on today and changed mine to an admin code as she couldn't quite figure it out, so I can at least add as many other logon's that I need which will help out getting them the extra help that they need. They still want someone to go up there next week and to work with Michelle their new girl, still debating who I should send and am still thinking that maybe I should go as she needs to learn alot more than just building group blocks. I dunno though, it's not alot of fun and I hate leaving my pup, so I guess that we shall see.
Oh, and I pulled up my Ford Credit account on the web yesterday and checked the status of my old account - to find that they had just received a payment on May 16th and there was no payment due for June, so it's pretty much been cleared and I was worried about nothing - out with the old and in with the new with no headaches whatsoever! And that also reminds me of my neck, which has been killing me all day, my girls have been trying to work out a huge knot that I've got but they didn't get very far, thinking that I need professional help before it'll feel better. Can't even turn my head and not sure what causes it - it's not like I have any stress in my life for that to be it I just hope that it feels a little better tomorrow, it's hard to get work done when I can't turn my head :(
And on a good note, tomorrow is HUMP day and it'll be down hill into a LONG weekend from there, so if I keep thinking about that it'll be here before we know it :) Night for now, till another day and I hope that you have a most excellent day - LATER!

Another Sunday night and all is well in the world, and it's back to work in the morning for another full week into the holiday weekend! Next Monday is a bonus day off, so it'll be nice to have a nice long weekend to just kick back and remember those ....... ugh, what is the meaning of Memorial Day again? And today was a beautiful day here on the beach, a little windy but only in the upper 70's and is suppose to be the same way all week - gotta like this weather! And I heard that the first day of Summer is coming up sometime this week, not sure what day but I'll be sure to let you know when it happens :)
I had wanted to detail my truck today but only got to do the tires and armour all the insides and never did get around to vacumning it but it's not all that bad, heck I've only had it for two weeks! Bought my first tank of gas today and dang if it doesn't have a huge tank on it - cost me $25 and it was only on a 1/4 full ...... think that it holds 23 gallons or something like that so the good news is that I won't have to fill it up very often. I finished up my year end forecast this evening too, cept we are way to high in revenues in the 4th quarter so I'm sure that I've still got some work to do on it tomorrow. Should be a pretty good week though but the phones always go crazy going into a holiday weekend, I just hope that all of my girlies are feeling their wheaties and are ready to come to work.
I also got quite a bit done on my Hungarian friend's website, revamped the whole thing and changed it around and I'm really starting to like the look of the thing ....... now translating it into Hungarian and trying to type that up is going to be a different story! But if you are interested in buying any pre-paid phone cards you should buy them from us ....... and you can click on www.usatelefonkartya.com and go from there! I guess that kartya means card in some other language - and as I said I'm not very good with this international language thing. I still have alot of more work to do on the site, but at least we can start selling stuff any time now. I also think that we could make alot more $$$ buying the cards ourselves and reselling them, but then the risk is alot greater so I guess it all washes in the end.
Oh, and my brother should be closing on my Mom's house on Wednesday if everything is still going ok, haven't heard of any complications but there usually are some ...... I'll have to call him in a day or two to see how things are going. And the weird thing is that it's one day earlier (and two years later) than the day that I closed on my house, signed the papers on Thursday and had the movers here on Friday, then spent Memorial Day Weekend unpacking and then my Mom brought the Monto on Tuesday ...... too weird if you ask me! Plus it's hard to believe that I've all ready lived here two years all ready - but then again I guess I can believe it :)
Well, that's it for another night - hope all is well with you and that you have a GREAT week ahead ..... just keep thinking ahead till the holiday and it'll be alot easier :) Talk to you again sometime real soon!

Saturday's over, so that means pretty much so is the weekend ...... it's amazing how much I look forward to them and than how fast they go by :( I woke up early this morning, well at 8am which is early for me but not for some and it was cloudy and looked like rain and thought that it was going to be a rainy day all day. So I worked on my Year End Forecast for an hour or so and am just about done with it - and it never amazes me how quickly I can get something done when I'm not sitting in my office with 1000 interuptions. I then went out and mowed the lawn and the sun even came out, not too hot but when the sun was shining it was mighty warm out.
I then took a power nap for an hour or so, and I must have been really tired still as I slept very soundly, kept waking up thinking that I should get up but then fell back a sleep for a few minutes. I got going again about 4:30 and took a drive to Home Depot to get some fertilizer that I couldn't find at Walmart, plus a new electric drill as I burned up my charger on the other one and can't find one to replace it. I found a very nice one and it's charging tonight, not that I use it all that much but is a very handy tool to have around. I also spread my fertilizer when I got home under cloudy skies and the slightest bit of sprinkles, still trying to get rid of some brown spots and think that the raking I did last week did some good. I also bought a pair of Nikes on line tonight, and it's funny as I checked the history on Footlocker.com from where I ordered before and for the last three years I've ordered them within a couple of days of today - must be the Spring in the Air that makes me do it. They sure do make it easy to spend money these days though, spend a hundred bucks in a matter of minutes and all without even leaving the house.
Did Subway for dinner and then did some work, typed up my meeting minutes and still have some more to finish up in the morning. I also washed my truck last night (takes me at least an hour) and the sprinkles today didn't affect it, and still want to try and detail the tires and the trim tomorrow and run the vacumn cleaner through the insides to get any Monto hair off the seats. Other than that it should be the usual Sunday, you know the house cleaning, the laundry and the grocery shopping - it's how each of my Sunday's are spent usually. All in all I guess that life is going rather well, at least as usual so that's always good. And I guess that the rain has moved on so tomorrow is suppose to be a nice day - and so is next week, just in time for the new week to begin.
That's about it for another day - hope that your weekend is just as nice and that all is well in the Land of Oz, and till the next time I'll talk to you again soon.

Hello and Happy Thursday to ya ..... actually Thursday is just about over so it's almost the weekend!!! I didn't write last night as I was all puted-out, sometime you just need to take a break from working on a computer. But it seems like it's been a while since last wrote, don't really have too much to say but thought that I should write. It was a crazy day at work and have two girls on vacation, plus another one called off so that left me with three to cover the phones, and that's very slim pickings if someone needs to use the bathroom or take a break, let alone trying to cover their lunch breaks. At least I was in my Sales Strategy Meeting for an hour and a half so I got to get out of the office but they weren't quite so lucky. I'm just hoping that it's not a repeat tomorrow, but at least the phones should be quieter if nothing else. The phones were busy as heck though today, so that's got to be good for business sometime in the future.
Today was also the last day of the Group Coordinator in Greensville, SC and she was basically the only one running the Resv Department so I'm not sure how well it's going to go after she's gone. They hired a girl that worked at Dillards to replace her but she only had one day to train with the old girl but does have some Marriott experience, I just hope that she remembers enough to hold things together. They wanted me to send a task force person, but that'll probably have to wait for a couple of weeks but guess that that's better till things settle down. Should be interesting though, and will probably take up alot more of my time. I've also been working on the 9 Day Forecast program and have it pretty much set, shared it with a collegue of mine who thought that it might work for her too - and if she can use it than I know that anyone can! Tonight I was working on the procedure for using it, step by step everything that you need to follow even if you've never done one before. I'm kind of putting a priority on it as I wanted to have it for Greenville, plus they are still using a hand written form so this will be a major improvement.
The weather has been heating up, high 80's today but we had a nice breeze so it's still fairly nice and hope that it continues through the weekend just like it's been. I am looking forward the having a couple of days off, don't really have too much planned but it's nice to just not have to do anything (besides all of my usual stuff!). Might even have to make a run to Home Depot for some supplies, but with my new truck it might even be a nice drive :) Oh, and I can now access my new Ford Motor Credit account on-line showing my new truck so I know that the deal went through, but the thing that bothers me is that my old one is still there and my next payment is due in two days, which the dealer was suppose to have taken care of when I turned it in but I see no mention of that so I hope that it all gets resolved without affecting me.
Well, that's it - kind of feel like I was all over the board tonight but oh well, I just write it as it comes into my bald little head :) So, till another day - TGIF again!!! LATER Gators, don't ya just love those tators ..... (tots! :). Nite!!!

What a gorgeous day it was in Panama City Beach!!! Woke up and went to work and it was 58' this morning, even had a enough chill in the air where I had to roll up the windows on the Explorer ...... but warmed up nicely and was in the high 70's by mid afternoon :) I wish that every day could be just like today, but then I'd have to quit my job and play outside all day working on my yard, but then I'd be so poor that I'd have to sell my yard and live on a street corner so I guess that wouldn't work too well :( But if I were to live on a street corner I'd have the bestest shopping cart to haul my stuff around that I could find, I'd be sure that Montie was styling riding around in the child seat of the thing (with seat belt and everything of course!). And that brings back memories of L.A. where there was someone living on just about every street corner that I came to, and I used to feel sorry for the grocery store owners and all of the carts that they lost to the homeless, plus I made quite a few friends that I'd give any change that I had too, used to be alot of regulars on my way to and from work. You don't see them around here though, at least not very often so I guess that's a good thing - unless they are living behind the scenes or something.
It was such a nice evening when I got home tonight that I couldn't miss the opportunity to do some raking, so Montie and I spent an hour outside raking up dead grass, still haven't seen where it's helped much where I did it this weekend but I think that in the long run it'll come around. And I guess that overall today wasn't too bad, busy again but it's all ready another hump day, so I guess that it's downhill after tomorrow. We had our Staff Meeting today which was weird but fairly productive, more of an open-forum on how to improve our quality scores. So tomorrow is a new day, and we've been challenged to see what we will change in what we do - makes us think about it if nothing else.
I'm still working on converting my weekly forecast file over to Excel and think that I'm close tonight, it's still going to take me a while to figure out the macros and printing it and stuff but I think that it might be ready to see if there are any bugs in it. I've also got a friend who is sending me a program for our Palm Pilot for me to try before I buy and it might be here tomorrow, and I am really interested to see what the thing can do! And for those of you that are still "palmless", I'd highly recommend you get one as you won't imagine life without one once you've got it ..... especially if you are still using the old fashioned Daytimer these days!
And in closing my new truck is running great - I actually think that they just disconnected the "check engine" light to keep me quiet but as long as it's running like it is I don't really care. The thing is a beast though and you can tell that it's 5000 + pounds every time you start up from a stop ...... plus I sit up so dang high ...... it's GREAT! Still need to figure out the stereo system someday, but I guess that I should make sure that the loan and stuff goes through first - plus it cranks as it is. Ok, enough all ready - HUMPS away to another day!!! TTFN ;>)~

TTFN ;>)~

Monday is done and my truck has finally returned home with me, went to the Ford Dealer and picked it up around 10:30am after they called and told me it was ready - and all that they needed to do was to "road test" it. But I'm not quite sure where they tested the dang thing, but the must have found just about every mud puddle out there and drove through it as there is mud all over it - but then again being white I guess that it probably doesn't take all that much. He must have been sleeping outside the last few nights too as there is no way that he would have gotten that dirty sleeping in the service bay ....... my poor boy but at least he's back in my garage tonight (along with my garage door opener!!). I'm still not even sure what was wrong with it, they have this way of talking all technical so that you don' thave a clue, but as long as it doesn't happen again I don't really care (all covered by warranty too, thank you Ford!).
And it's raining here tonight, hasn't rained in probably a month (since my April vacation I think!) and seems kind of nice, but there is no way that I'm letting Montie romp around the back yard and then track mud all over my fresh, clean carpets! So chill boy, you'll get your turn soon enough :) I also need some help with another one of my questions of the universe, but I've got this toad that lives under my sidewalk outside my front door and comes up to the door once in a while and after Saturday I had it all looking beautiful but then on Sunday I had these cacoon looking things on my door step ...... so I am wondering if toads actually make turds that are left as a gift for me? I cleaned them up yesterday when I was cleaning my house but if he is indeed leaving these treats, does anyone have any idea how one might get a toad to move out and find another place to live? I've got toads all over the yard too, have to be very careful when I'm mowing the lawn to allow them time to "hop" out of the way ...... they need to come up with some sort of "Toad Xing" signs or something. I've got this one toad that lives out on the side and when I mow around the edging on the trees he hops along in front of me, and I have to go really slow to keep behind his pace ........ poor guy :) Maybe it has something to do with the filling in of my moat thing, don't remember it being this bad in the last few years.
I've also been pondering this whole Life of the Shanno thing, ticked one girl off due to the fact that I was dogging the Chevy Malibu recently and she drives one, but then I had a friend from NY that I gave my site addy to and he was browsing it today and said that it was a really good way to catch up on what I've been up to. So I dunno, guess I'll have to come to terms with it sometime but lately I've been getting alot of feedback about me sharing what I do on the web. Life is going ok though, today was an ok day but not quite the one that I was looking forward to so maybe that day will come tomorrow - at least I'll have a nice drive into work in the morning! Have a great Tuesday ...... and it's Staff and Forecast Meeting Day for me, oh joy!!! :)

It's Sunday night and I guess that the weekend is over, but that means that tomorrow is Monday so I might be getting my truck back! But I'm not sure that I should be holding my breath that that's going to happen and wouldn't be surprised if they call me and say it's going to be another few days yet. We are almost getting to the point where the thing has been in the shop more than it's been in my driveway, I pride myself as a guy with patience but that can only last for only so long! I'm kind of getting used to the "low-rider" Malibu though, but I'm glad that I don't really have to get too used to it. The other thing that has been driving me crazy is that the garage door opener is still in my truck, it's a real pain to have to park in the driveway and come in the front door, then open the garage door and park the thing. If I knew I was going to be doing it this long, I would have drove back to the dealer and gotten it ...... and I could have visited with my baby for a while too :) Montie still hasn't got the handle on things as he's always waiting by the garage door for me when I sneak in around the corner and find him waiting for me.
And how was your Mom's Day, I at least hope that you called her today and told her how special of a person she was, I guess that was the weirdest part about tonight was that I couldn't call her and tell her that. I did post a couple of pictures of my Mom up on my site today and also her eulogy so that others could read about who she was and what made her special to me ..... and who knows, she might have a high-speed internet connection and might have even saw it while she was surfing the web. I guess that I'll leave it up for a few days, and it was the least that I could do for her ....... wanted to do more but couldn't think of anything else. I guess that I could have gone to church, and I think that more and more lately that it's been calling me, so who knows I might even turn to that at some point.
Other than that my house is all put back together after the carpet steam-clean, groceries are shopped and the laundry is done. And for some reason I'm looking forward to getting back to work, should be an ok week as I think that all is going well thus far. So, until another day - smile even if you have nothing to smile about ........ it's one of those things that is contagious with those around you :o)~ Have a GREAT week, and I'll be talking to you again sometime real soon!

Man, what a day and if I'm not beat tonight! It was another hot day, probably close to 90' again but I got my lawn mowed and detailed again, even though I sweated my butt off it's done. I'm still having a little trouble with my rye grass that I overseaded my lawn with this winter is dying off due to the heat but it's still choking out my centipede grass so I've got a few brown spots that I'm trying to get rid of and am going to have to rake it out. I started to do the side yard this afternoon but didn't get to far as it was just way to hot to be doing that ...... think that I'll just do a little bit at a time in the evenings.
I also had my carpets steam cleaned today, and while I love clean carpets and watching them do it there isn't much that you can do around the house until it dries, and that will probably be tomorrow morning before it's all completely dry. So, my house is a mess, got stuff piled up in the bathroom and the kitchen and will have to put it all back together again tomorrow. The carpets look great though, but I hate to walk on it as it's got this nice smooth look to it, and wherever I've walked it leaves footprints, but figure they will all vacumn out tomorrow.
I also pressure washed the front of my house, well at least 1/2 of it and did the garage and half the house and it's looking great, even did the driveway too to get rid of some left over grass. I'm still loving my new gas powered pressure washer, the thing smokes my little electric one that is STILL in the shop, don't think that I'll ever get it back. I'm still sporting my Chevy Malibu too, called the Ford Dealer again today and guess that they still haven't figured out what it wrong - and all I know is that it's a wiring harness that's malfunctioning. I talked to one of the head guys today and he said that he's got his best man on it, he'd rank him one of the top in the region and that the guy was going to work on it all day today and tomorrow and that I'd definitely have it back on Monday - but what does he know as they don't even know what's wrong with it yet. It does kind of tick me off that I had the thing for six days and has less than 400 miles on it for something like this to happen, but then again they are taking care of the problem and even gave me a rental car, so I've got to give them credit for trying.
Well, I hope that your weekend is going well and that you had a very nice day - Saturday actually seems like my only off day as Sundays are full of house cleaning and laundry ...... but still the weekends just fly by too dang fast. So, until another day, take care and Happy Mom's Day Eve :)

It's another Thursday night all ready, and dang if this week didn't just fly right by! And another weekend starts tomorrow - and I know that I'm really looking forward to it, and bet that you are too :) I had someone tell me tonight that the year is almost 1/2 over all ready and we'd be starting our '03 budgets soon, dang if she wasn't right and not sure where the time goes these days. Summer has arrived in Panama City Beach also, been 90' every day for the last week with no rain in site, sure know that we could really use some and I think that it's gonnna be a long, hot summer here on the beach.
And it's official tonight that my Sports Trac is actually pretty sick, guess my "check fuel cap" was more than just that so I'm glad that I took it in to the dealer this morning and didn't just blow it off. But I guess that there is an "EVAP" problem with it that they still aren't sure how they are going to fix - guess that it has something to do with the gas tank not pressurizing correctly but I'm not too sure how serious of a problem that it actually is. I didn't get it back tonight and got a rental car free of charge instead, but it's a Chevy Malibu so I'm no longer sporting around in my sport trac, heck I'm barely driving this thing but at least it's something. They told me they weren't sure if they would even have it done by tomorrow so I might be stuck with this car all weekend, but I'd rather not hurry them and have them fix it right instead of having to deal with it again down the road again.
I was also kind of bummed today as I wrote a "welcome" e-mail note to our new VP of Sales & Marketing last night letting her know if there was anything that I could help her with I was more than willing to, but then heard nothing all day so I thought that maybe she was too good to even reply. But then I got a note back from her around 8pm telling me what good timing it was as she's been in meetings learning the world of Marriott all day (and tomorrow too), and that she had no ego and was sure that she'd be calling for help in the future ....... so she's back on my good list once again tonight :o) I think that I am really going to like her, she's down to earth and even said that she was "Ready to ROCK", whatever that means it means that she's at least on our level. I also got my new (used) MARSHA terminal finally working today too, it was all a setup thing and I kind of figured out once I was pointed in the right direction so I'm happy about that too.
I guess that I'm going to end this now but will write more later this weekend, ER is new and it's Mark's last show and has been kind of good so far. And yes Pam, living in Central Time means that all of the shows come on an hour earlier and takes a little getting used to it but the 11pm news comes on at 10pm - so I get to go to bed an hour earlier than you :) TGIF everyone, one more day and we're free!!!

Tuesday is just about done and it's almost another HUMP, and before we know it it'll be another weekend again! Not too bad a day but had a very long Forecast Meeting, guess that our GSS scores (Marriott Quality Ratings based on customer surveys) have been dropping so we got the big "talk" today that we'd better do something about it immediately. Can't say that we've had that problem for a long time and the scores have been better than most, but for one reason or another we don't seem to be as sharp as we once were, not that I'm sure what to do about the whole thing!
And in regards to my truck, it's still running fine but yesterday the "Check Fuel Cap" light came on and then this morning the "Check Engine" light joined it and they were still on when I drove home tonight. I'm sure that it's nothing and spoke to the Service Department at the dealer who said that I just needed to have it hooked up to the computer to see what was going on ...... but it's gonna be a few days before I can do that. Not a big deal but still somewhat a pain in the tail, and was kind of hoping that it would have gone off sometime today. Otherwise, it rides GREAT and I'm even getting used to backing up in the thing!
I also was able to do a couple of minor MIS things today, helped a guy install printer drivers on his laptop so that he could use the printer in the Business Center, plus even taught my friend how to make those cute little smiley faces in her e-mails ...... I had to laugh when she wrote me back that she learned something new today. I also worked on converting my Weekly Forecast spreadsheet to Excel from Lotus and think that alot of people in our company might actually like it when I get it all set up, at least I'll be able to use a pretty sweet report.
And Dateline is doing a special report on Spring Break right now about high school students partying all too much, at first I thought that it was going to be on PCB but fortunately it's on Cancun ....... where the drinking age is only 18. Looks like quite the party though, for a bunch of HS students actually. I thought that our spring break was bad, but guess that it could be alot worse! And some of these students even bring their parents ..... now that sounds like alot of fun :)
Well, till another day - stay kewl (not here, it's been 90' every day!) and I hope that you have a great end to the rest of the week.

I forgot - but the bestest thing that I love about my new Sports Trac is the power back window which is almost as good as the moon roof - touch the button once and it vents down about 2"s, turn the knob and it goes all the way down ...... helluva outstanding engineering design for sure!!! Plus, the cd player is way kewl too ..... and sorry Pam, I haven't broken out your stash yet but I will any day now, I promise you that!!! Night - and this time for sure :)
Monday is done and it wasn't all too bad of a day ...... three of our Sales Managers, my boss and GM were at some trade show playing golf all day so there weren't too many people around and it was fairly quite today. My office supervisor was still on vacation and took a long weekend to visit family in Atlanta, so I didn't have her to shield me from my girls but they all behaved just the same - but just remind me not to let her go on vacation again! It was a good catch up day though, and if it's any indication of the week it should be a pretty good one.
Everyone seemed to find out about my new truck today too as I parked it in my same old spot as I always have, so they knew it was mine, then they found out I had pics of it on my site so they all had to check it out ....... more and more people from work are finding out about www.scotthanno.com, and I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not! I had one girl that couldn't believe that I would put personal information up here, like people were going to steal my identity or something ..... I still can't figure it out. I'm at least turning on more and more people to my Daily Jigsaw puzzle - and they are even playing the bowling game too.
Not too much else to talk about, I ended up talking to my business partner for an hour this evening and we are still struggling with our little e-commerce deal but I'll have to give him credit that he has faith in his idea so I'll hang with him for a while. And our MIS person is out this week but there were no issues that I had to deal with there - except for calls from my friend in Norfolk but I enjoy the challenge in helping her out. At least I think that most of her hardware is working tonight, and she even impressed me that she even knew what a cpu was ........ "that box thing" and she was right on!! :o)
So, until another day ...... don't forget about Mom's Day this coming Sunday, I'd like to do something special for my Mom this year as it's the first year without her but I'm not sure what yet ....... I've got the week to figure something out though - and you should do something really special for the most specialist person in the world to you too ..... k :?) Nite!

The weekend is over and it's another Sunday night - I got my Sports Trac on Friday and the thing is so sweet!!! It ended up arriving at the hotel around 12:30pm, we were just finishing up with an hour & 1/2 Sales Strategy Meeting and one of the girls came in and asked if anyone ordered a car :) So, we all end up going out front and checked it out, everyone loved the looks of it! And there were some bugs splattered on the front and even though the guy washed it before bringing to me, there were some love-bugs still on there that were driving me crazy. So I didn't really drive it all that much on Friday but did come home and had planned to clean off the bugs, but then I ended up washing the entire thing (and there is not a imperfection on it :). The thing sure is alot longer than my Explorer Sport and took me a while, and was dark out by the time I got done with it. If you haven't all ready, you can check out the pictures that I took of it on Saturday and while they aren't the best quality, it'll give you a pretty good idea of what it looks like. Click here if to take you to my pictures page.
It'll take a little getting used to driving too - the cover on the back makes it a little harder to back up, plus it's alot longer than the other one but at least thus far I haven't backed into my washer and dryer getting into the garage. I'm sure that it'll get easier, and I love the automatic transmission thing too!
Well, that's about it but it's been one hot weekend - 90' each day with at least 90% humidity, think I might have lost a few pounds with all of the sweating I did. Worked the bag-pull Saturday morning too, went well I guess but I'm glad that it's behind me now. And it's another new week, should hopefully be a smooth one so I'll see how it goes and I'll be sure to let you know :o)

Thursday's done and the bag delivery went well, didn't seem like there were all that many bags but it sure was hot, did the first wave around 2-4 and then went back to my office thinking I was done, only for them to Nextel me at 5pm telling me that we had one more to go :( So I didn't get to leave early today, stayed probably an extra 1/2 hour but got outta there at the first chance I could. And we've still got Saturday morning to look forward to, and then we can do it all over again.
I'm pretty sure that my new truck is going to be here tomorrow and think that it's all set up - so I ended up coming home and cleaning/vacumning/washed the windows on my Explorer as I couldn't turn it in dirty. I really thought that I had at least the weekend to get it all ready but this popped up with a phone call this afternoon - and who am I to say no to having it in time for the weekend!!! I think that the driver is leaving Orlando sometime around 5am, so that should put him here before noon or so ....... and I really can't wait at this point! I also decided to buy on a 5 year loan versus doing another 3 year lease - after the incredible deal I got with all the rebates and great sticker price plus putting $2000 down, I really didn't want to have to do it in another three years if I don't want to. I still only plan on keeping it only three years but I have it figured that I really won't loose any if I do - and if all goes my way I might even make a couple grand out of the deal.
I think that I'd really like to own it too, that way I can install a killer stereo and think that I'll take better care of it - and who knows, I might like it enough to keep it five years. And I'm also really looking forward to finally owning an automatic, been driving 5 speed manuals for way too long so it'll be a nice luxury. All is going well - and my new MARSHA terminal should also be here any day :) Other that that I've got my Sales Strategy Meeting tomorrow and hope that I can make it - but actually I hope that my truck shows up right in the middle of it and I'll have to excuse myself. Happy Weekend to everyone :o)
ps ....... Pamela, I hope that you have a very safe trip and enjoy the time with your family - don't worry about a thing and it'll all be waiting for you when you return on Monday!

Probably a short note tonight, just wanted to let you know that I got our website url registered for the guy in the cafeteria that has an idea to make a million dollars, so just a couple of more days and we'll go public and start to sell our product on line. If anything, I'm doing it to see if we can actually make any money at it and will be interesting to set it up, he actually had a pretty good idea that I'll give him credit for. The hardest part for me is that he wants to write all of the pages in Hungarian and I haven't the first clue about that - but that's who we are marketing and that will be our edge so I'm up for the challenge. I'm doing the technical work and he's doing the promoting of it - so to me he's really got his work cut out for him! We haven't really talked about the cut on the profit (if there is any), but he told me 50/50 but I'm not putting any money into it and he is - so I'd be happy with 75/25 with the 25 being me.
No update on the new vehicle, just holding for a few days - and that's fine by me. My backyard is starting to dry out a bit and is showing spots so I ended up messing with all of my sprinklers in Zone 6 to try to get things covered - not sure why that one area is doing that as the rest of the yard looks great. I was planning on waiting till the weekend to mess with it, but figured that if I fixed some of it it might be all better by Saturday, we shall see.
Did anyone try the Bowling Game link that's on my home page? That was my original "Shockwave" game that I always played before I found the jigsaw puzzle thing - it's pretty fun too. Hopefully it's pretty self-explanatory, at least it is for me :) Give it a try, I bowled a 130 tonight and haven't played it for a while, but I guess that score actually kind of sucks! Well, I'm beat so I'm gonna sign out for now, and I'll write more another day - k :?)
